Honestly what I just watched happen to that bike tells me it would be great for a kid just trying to learn how to bunny hop, do wheelies, you know small beginner tricks. Just as long as they got a parent around who knows how to keep things adjusted and tight hell by the time a beginner gets good enough to break it they’d deserve a higher end bike. I expected the wheels to go first actually but it took a solid drop from an experienced rider to get it done. If a kid was to learn on this then get his hands on a high end mongoose he’d probably be pretty damn happy. And I’m not buying my kids a pro level bike without knowing they’re serious about learning to ride. So In my opinion this was a win for the wal mart mongoose bike

When I was a kid in the 1980s, Mongoose BMXs were a status symbol. The cheapest ones were about $200 (which translates to about $550 today) and were only sold in actual bike shops. Mongoose invented the factory-built BMX in the mid 1970s. Before Mongoose, the only BMXs were regular 20" street bikes like Schwinn Stingrays (common modifications included removing the fenders, chain guard, kickstand, and banana seat (replacing it with a seat from a "10-speed" road bike), replacing the regular street tires with knobby tires (classic Cheng Shin), and welding a crossbar onto the handlebars. Mongoose of today is Mongoose-in-name-only. In the mid/late 1990s they started showing up at Walmart for like $100, which is when Mongoose ceased to exist as far as I'm concerned.

FATALSheldon I used to have to get bikes thrown on the hard rubbish (out on the nature strip/ sidewalk strip) anyways one year I found a haro with one piece cranks, a pair of mongoose 3 piece cranks and a pair of Hoffman double wall wheels that were strong as heck. That was the best bike I ever had! So glad I knew how to build bmx bikes at the age of 12 😂
