Those Botanical Gardens were something special and an amazing Greenhouse to keep them alive. I think you`ve made the right choice going for a medium sized van. It`ll use way less fuel,will be easier to find park ups and will blend in better in an urban environment. If you wanted to create more space you could always get an awning made. 🙂

We bought our van from Rupert at Basevan in May 2023 and spent around 4-6 weeks converting her before heading out to Shetland, Orkney, NC500 and Outer Hebrides for 5 months. We kept the original insulation and we've never had an issue, couldn't recommend getting an ex-ambulance enough! Oh, and we called our van "Nelly the Nee-Naw"

I had a cat for 16 years. He was neutered but early in our life together, he would wake me up at night screaming and carrying on just like that whenever a cat would come around outside of the house. I just laughed when I heard Allen making those noises, they were so familiar.

Ambulances are good vehicles to choose , good service history and plenty of very well built cabinets inside that don't squeak , good flooring too , rather than trying to remove the built in tracks on the floor it's easier to cut a shallow groove into whatever covering you put on top...that was how I did it anyway

I think you should call the van Stanley. Not sure why, but for some reason that name came to mind when I saw it. The adventures of Ben, Emily, Alan and Stanley has somewhat of a ring to it! Hi, van is great choice. I bought same type of van ex ambulance Renault master. 7 years ago, it's been fantastic as a camper. One big word of advice, don't ggt rid of the inner plastic lining in the inside of the ambulance. It's special medical grade and anti fungle and anti damp and it's very expensive! Hope you have as much pleasure out of your van as I have, you are a lovely couple 😊x

Seeing as how you loved the Botanical Gardens so much, if you're ever in London you must visit Kew Gardens. It's the same kind of thing on a much bigger scale and the Palm House will blow your mind! Also the Chelsea Physic Garden is worth a look.

You were in Jericho, in Oxford. How 'bout that for a name for your new road yacht? Jerry, for short. Aside, or Aceed, I can rewind to 1973, as a school dropout, cramming for "A" levels aged 17, I took some acid and found myself in the Oxford Botanical Gardens, in those glasshouses. It blew my mind, and two years later I was studying for a diploma in Arboriculture. Still gardening at 68, and play drums with two bands, drumming my lifelong passion alongside. Guy I knew in the early 1970s purchased an ex British military ambulance from the auctions at Rudington...He did some conversion and took it around Europe. However.........it was haunted !!! By a soldier who had died on manoeuvres in Germany.. They sold it due to its past history as soldiers refused to crew it. My friend also off-loaded it.....

My wife and I used to travel around the country side viewing gardens. There was a book I think it was called the Yellow Book it listed private gardens open to the public for a pound(back then) you could view the gardens have a cup of tea and various sponge cakes and sweets, the book is published annually.

Just after the prison closed they showed the Shawshank Redemption for a couple of nights. They converted some of the cells into bars. I wondered what the old inmates would have made of it, especially as it’s now a luxury hotel!

Hi I did the same with one of them vans . I went to IKEA and got 12 unit shelf laid it down put wood on top and mattress. That was bed and storage sorted .lol

Please check the amount of insulation you have behind the panels inside your van as mine did have some , but not really enough to keep it warm in the winter, hopefully you will be luckier than me 😄 have fun and enjoy
