Just to add some context to the loops they are just reuseable earplugs but most people I know with them are autistic and use them to help with being overstimulated in crowds, especially as you can get adjustable ones to reduce the noise a certain amount. Are they overpriced certainly but I can't say I know how much others cost.

the ones that give you at the factory my mates worked at cost around 5 euros but you do find others that are 30, I assume it depends on how often and in what occasions you're gonna use them and how confortable you wanna be, etc.

⁠@@kevinlocatelli1721they were probably just regular earplugs in the factory, when you’re looking for earplugs that tone down noise but still allow you to hear speech, about $15-$30 is the average. People use them in restaurants, bars, concerts, movies, anywhere you want to hear people and music but is likely to be very loud.

Cheap earplugs just literally plug your ears, I just bought a different brand and the cheapest I could find was about $17. So yeah, Loops are more expensive but you’re not doing a fair comparison because you’re comparing different products.

For anyone curious about Loops and their uses: They have a few variations so you can choose what level of noise reduction you prefer. I personally have a set that helps with loud noises and I use them when attending family events and crowded spaces as they help with overstimulation from the noise which is something I’ve always struggled with and previously used my AirPods to try and help. Are Loops pricey? Yes, but they’re cheaper than a pair of AirPods. They’re great for autistic people and people who are easily frustrated with noise 🥰

The loop earplugs are especially made for people who are frequently exposed to loud noises that can cause hearing loss such as concerts. I own a pair since I get overstimulated when in crowed loud places due to trauma. Hope this helped.

the loop earplugs are EXCELLENT. i HIGHLYYYY recommend them if you go to a lot of concerts (i’m at over 100). but they’re also great for bus/tube journeys, walking through shopping centers, busy parks/beaches, the motorway, etc!

The loop ear defenders work great for festivals and if you ride a motorbike they stop wind noise and noise damage, I work in music venues for a job so these come in handy

5:49 I would like to defend loop earplugs, I use them quite frequently as someone with a disability that’s linked to noise sensitivity. The base loop earplugs are £20 and honestly you don’t need to spend the massive amount, because the base ones are excellent. I prefer them to the cheap shit earplugs you can get in any boots, because it mutes background noise (loud tube noises etc) without muting out the voice of whatever person you’re talking to.

I know loop earbuds might seem pointless to some people but I got a pair of the quiet set and I use them nightly for sleeping as I live with multiple flatmates and they help me sleep so much better by blocking out annoying background noises that my sensory disorder would otherwise pick up while I'm trying to get to sleep

I can get why the loops were in the bad bin in this context but they’re aimed for noise cancelling such as in festivals or busy environments, mainly for those with noise sensitivity for example people on the spectrum:)
