In this video we show you how we built our new 80lbs crossbow. The bow itself is a segment of an old leaf spring (the kind of suspension used in old trucks or trains). For the bolt we used a fiberglass rod of an old tent, a piece of steel for the tip and duct- tape as fletching.

Most things we built are learning by doing + a bit of YT tutorials and online research. You learn from your mistakes and do it better next time

Great video and build! P.S. You should never dry fire a crossbow or any bow. They always need the bit of resistance an arrow or bolt provides to keep them from damaging themselves and possibly the shooter at the same time.

What do you mean by split? Left and right limb separate or each limb split in half?

That's why we're shooting on such a big target and only if everybody is standing behind the crossbow: To minimize the risk of somebody getting hit
