After seeing all the careful work, the inspector seriously tapped it to listen for bad lamination! "Nothing personal, just being thorough." And next week we probably see the inspector checking the load calculations. :)

Love this idea of replacing the logos on the hull. Would be cool if they were very subtle. Something like the same colour as your hull but Matt not gloss with some slightly darker highlights in parts. Just enough to know if you looked hard.
@chicobicalho5621
@chicobicalho5621 10 ай бұрын
@chrispomfret8592 this is a very good idea, it would be like a water mark of sorts. I suggested to Matt and Janni that the stern extention could be painted in a very subtle, slight different colour from the original shape of Duracell, so its original design would be preserved, if ever so discretely, more or less as your concept for the graphics.
@tobiaslindblom2187
@tobiaslindblom2187 10 ай бұрын
One could mix in a little bit of glitter effect in the paint just for the old logos. With the right amount it would be a little bit ghost-like.

Matt creates things so well and its always a pleasure to watch the whole 9 yards cos that girl behind the lens makes sure things that might be mundane are so enchantingly captured, edited, rendered and sound tracked :-))) I made my border collie watch the 'çat with hammer' segment and stressed that we really needed to step up with the training (he helps me with a current boat restoration) he agreed and is always enthusiastic but long hair and epoxy seemed to coalese in the effort - well at least dog hair can carry tensile loads, right Matt???

No need to be nervous about glueing. Literally millions of people travel on airplanes that have structurally *glued* wings. The right glue can create an extremely strong bond. Another good demonstration of glued mechanical structures are Lotus sportscars. And ofcourse many racecars.

Regarding the bow fill in under the bowsprit. I saw a Mako rebuild where the guy took the 4lb two-part foam and put a simple form around it, poured it in, it expanded and bubbled over, he cut it, shaped it, sanded it, then glassed over it.

I mean this as a compliment . The new bowsprit reminds of a Narwhal . Which is a bit like Duracell big but should be very graceful when it’s under way . When you close in that bow piece under the bowsprit, you should put a little time capsule in there so should it et opened later by someone the wil be able have a story about the person who did the remodel.

Nice strong bowsprit. Now if you some freighter chooses to have an argument with you about who gets to displace what water the freighter will loose, at the very lease it will come away with a good sized hole where you poke it.

I hope the 'inspector' has a roll with Matt mentoring 'Sailing Melody' in all things fibreglass, looking forward to see that project. My one attempt on a buckit list Longboard was a learning experience when the poly resin started to go 'off' before I could finish laminating the deck, temperature was my downfall on a hot Aussie summer. Should have use a sun cure resin instead.'Total' respect Matt
