There are lots of roads in SE BC and southern Alberta. Highway 93 north or the icefields parkway and 93 south and 95 from Golden to Fernie. Highway 5 from Kamloops to Mt Robson and Jasper. Highway 22 and highway 40 (closed winter) in Alberta. The t al Canadian ski resorts are Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, even Mt norquay in Banff national Park. Kicking horse in Golden, Revelstoke, panorama and Fernie. There is one in Jasper. Then you will see how massive the area is and how tall the mountains are.

FYI - I live in Rossland and lived in the area for 20 + years. The roads you are looking for are there but you'll never find then in winter unless you know where they are. I sympathise with some of your observations, my big miss is decent Chinese food. Being from Vancouver and many many world class Chinese restaurants. Other than the ski hills, life is fairly quiet ( small town life). But small town life is being replaced by technology and new start ups weekly. Have a wonderful stay !

Of course you're not, you are both skiing pros, as far as I'm concerned, I'd be on my backside, legs up in the air! I imagine that Canada is like many parts of the USA, vast skies that seemingly go on forever, along with the landscape. I cried with you at the end , and then I laughed at your subtitles while Brian talked, very much sums up what being married is like. Have a wonderful next 2 weeks, would love to see some more of where you are living, surrounds etc, maybe you will get time? Love to you all

I've never skied and wondered if lots of energy is used on the slopes, such as like swimming? Is there McDonald's at the ski resort? A bear might eat you if you're hiking in the mountains. You both look well and happy. Have a great time.

Happy New Year, Robert! Yes..lots and lots of energy is used on the slopes. We ache from head to toe (but in a good way) and we are starving when we come home! That's a great question about McDonalds, and now I come to think of it, I haven't seen a McDs in the town of Nelson. There are so many places to eat though...the pizza is fantastic and we have had Poutine almost every day after skiing (a Canadian dish of hot chips, gravy and a "squeeky" cheese - it's really lovely and very affordable (about $7 a portion)!
