Would for sure recommend at least two chest seals and some s fold gauze for packing (hemostatic unnecessary) Allot of tourniquets won’t help a sucking chest wound from a GSW.

Don’t use a rats tourniquet. If you can’t fit a cat in there then go with a sof t

Great respect for you and the channel. Just FYI, no disrespect, after 20 years as a county government paramedic in a busy urban environment I probably needed a tourniquet a half dozen times. The human body has amazing self preservation capabilities. Great review of the fast pack. All that said, with the crazy run of Mass Casualty shooting maybe multiple tourniquets is not over kill. God loves Sheep Dogs👍👍👍

as an air force medic, i would suggest staying away from 2 different kinds of tourniquets on your system. The CAT style is your best go to, since a non-medic can figure out how to use it much quicker that a RAT style. multiple is great, but just stick with 1 style for simplicity and ease of use. just my 2 cents.

every time I take a firearms class the instructors recommend I carry a basic trauma kit when I leave the house. Either a small kit on one or both ankles, or a big kit in the car. Also everyone who's had training from a professional or is a professional first aid trainer does not like the RAT tourniquet.

Love the channel. Since watching, I've purchased a Mountainsmith Tour bag (hops color) and a Mossberg 590A1 (7 shot 18.5" bead sight). Good (quality) stuff.

The pack design for these are outstanding, quality and materials are great. ITS Tactical has the same thing in 2 different versions, not sure if it is bigger or not, but it is about $16+ more than the vanquest because its made in America. I wish vanquest had more color options for it, I need a ranger green and foliage color :)

I agree with you for the color options!

I didn't know that it was lighter. I planned on getting ITS one, they have my color plus I always lean USA made. That said the vanquest packs I have heard nothing but great things about

Yeap Vanquest made great product but I prefer pay a little more for US made products and more little compagny for better local economy.

ITS has the same thing because Vanquest ripped their design (just like they did with the Arcteryx pack).

Great review man! If I could just suggest one thing though it would be to add some rolled gauze to the kit for deep wounds such as knife or gunshot wounds. It allows you to pack a deep wound and help stop bleeding especially on the non-compressible arterial bleeds.
@gideonstactical
@gideonstactical 8 жыл бұрын
Cool, just curious wouldn't my large 5x9 double layer bandages work well for that?
@letsgeterdone_
@letsgeterdone_ 8 жыл бұрын
They could but the rolled gauze is designed specifically for that. It's also more versatile because you can also use it to keep a dressing on a wound and keep constant pressure. I think either quick clot or celox makes a type of rolled gauze for packing wounds with a clotting agent in the material as well.
@LKN4WAR
@LKN4WAR 8 жыл бұрын
I agree on the celox pack gauze or compressed H&H and remove the swat t and instead ad an Israeli bandage. Odds are a lot higher of using an Israeli along with the roll or HH gauze than a 3rd TQ. And the Israeli can be used in TQ like fashion to bolster another TQ or by itself is there is no other options. Pack the gauze into wound site and mound it up then use the Israeli pad on top of that and it should put a lot of pressure down on the wound. I've heard this From skinny medic and others. I carry 4 Israelis and 2 TQs in my vehicle bag.

Hi Aaron! Great video, thank you. I would like to make two suggestions, if you allow: First one is carrying more bandages instead of more tourniquets. Of course it always depends on what injuries mostly occur in your situation, but I think bandages are really critical for medium wounds and being able to apply a lot of pressure as well, where a tourniquet would probably do more damage than good. Secondly I would like to stress, that as a dog handler, I always carry material to assist proper application of bandages on a dog, like a small cotton wool ball to be put between the toes of the paw for padding. These rubbery-sticky-elastic bandages that you showed in another video, I suppose, are also excellent for an outer layer on a bandage for your dog.. Of course it is just a suggestion from what injuries I experienced. Take care!

Thanks for the input, I agree in the items for a dog. For my system I carry a 2x2, 3x3, and two 5x9 ADB (I believe is their name) double ply bandages. When you are playing with knives, axes, and gun on a regular bases, tourniquets are a must. A good friend cut his foot wide open and almost bleed out, because he did not have a tourniquet.

+gideonstactical Thanks for your answer. I am sorry I am not too common with the US product names since I am from Germany, but I looked them up. I always carry at least three (small to medium) elastic bandage rolls with the dressing directly stuck to, (like on the israeli dressings) even in my smallest first aid kit and a separate CAT Tourniquet. Yeah, I agree, one tourniquet is a must, axe wounds bleed horribly, I once struck myself with one in the foot, too! Keep up the good work!

@eachday9538

I'm really not keen on the kit stored on the outside, I'd prefer a bigger pouch to fit everything inside. It's has a quick opening, so there doesn't seem to be any advantage for deployment and I see that exposed gear getting damaged prematurely, or lost.

I'd be all over this if it came in multicam and/or was a rip away. I can deal with the colors...but not being rip away seems to be a pretty serious negative IMO. Thoughts?
@RubleInnawoods
@RubleInnawoods 6 жыл бұрын
I use a non rip away IFAK on my plate carrier, and its really no issue if it isn't rip away as long as its accessible from the side or front, and has 90* positioning straps for stability. Just know where your stuff is and its no biggie, keep primary care in the front, then when you have a good second, you can detach the bag, or just have a buddy hand you things from it.
@2manysigns
@2manysigns 8 жыл бұрын
Looks like the elastic additions to the side are only on the 5×8 and your 4×6 but "apparently" not on the 7×10 . I just imagined a viewer potentially buying one of the 7×10 size expecting those elastics and winding up bummed out . Just a heads up , I may be wrong but anyone should make sure if you're wanting that . Hey man , with the body language on this review it looks like you may have some rapper blood in you .lol

Tourniquets are meant to be used for large scale amputations i.e losing a foot or a hand.
@elias0502
@elias0502 8 жыл бұрын
No, they're not. "A tourniquet is a constricting or compressing device, specifically a bandage, used to control venous and arterial circulation to an extremity for a period of time." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourniquet) They're meant to not make you bleed out.
@zombiefighterof1987
@zombiefighterof1987 8 жыл бұрын
S. Ravn Yeah, bleeding out from large injuries like losing a hand, it's well known in emergencies 9 out of 10 times when a tourniquet is applied that means that limb is lost and probably gonna need amputation anyway. Quit playing out your wannabe military spec-ops operator of applying a tourniquet.
