The crystal pool in Kitakami would have been a GREAT place to find the Crystal Onix, the first time we go there we encounter Briar, then approach the crystal pool and out of the water pops out the Crystal Onix, which was mutated by the crystals in the pool and was given essentially a "complete" terra form which doesn't require a transformation as it mutated into a new type. Another place we could find it could be bellow area zero in that part of the cave that has a pool with a crystal tree in the middle. In fact this one even makes more sense, scrap my Kitakami idea.

I like the idea that Onix can evolve depending on what it eats on while it's underground. That theatrically means that Onix can evolve with a steel shell, diamond shell, gold shell, coal shell, granite shell, the possibilities are endless. Heck, it could probably have a new form from eating fossils and we can have a fossil variant of Onix.

Ohh I like this! Imagine we could even have an evolution with the black augurite from PLA that's jet black.

I really think the Crystal Onix was explained enough. It wasn't some grand plan for some distant future knowledge, it was just a random, one off abnormal Onix. A mutation like what happens sometimes in nature.

I haven't been watching for the entire journey, but I was here at the very beginning for your original Crystal Onix video, and it's so nostalgic to look back on how long you've been at this and how fat you've come. It's been a joy to be around on and off to witness what you've accomplished here. Funnily enough, I just relocated and, in the process, rediscovered some old Pokémon ideas I'd written about well over a decade ago, and one was called Diamonix, a Crystal Onix inspired evolution of Steelix that was Steel and Dragon type, ditching the Ground type, which I'd completely forgotten about. While entirely different conclusions, it seems we had similar minds of thinking way back when! Be well and God bless, good sir!

Maybe it's something simple as the Onixs diet. Maybe like a flamingo that eats shrimp and turns pink, Crystal Onix eats crystal to have a protective crystal appearance. Similar events occurred on the island with all pink pokemon.
@thefirespecialist9007 Жыл бұрын
We need some Onix love, just imagine: -Onix evolves into Steelix. -Onix also evolves into Crystilix. -Steelix evolves into Diamonix. Having Pokémon with branch Evolution's, but those Evolution path not containing an equal path, have been changed with Applin! The Onix line needs this, especially since Mega Pokémon are currently removed.

Toby, I got one more theory for you, or an opinion video if you're up for it. In the Indigo Disk DLC, they mention that although terastallization was discovered in Paldea, the Blueberry Academy was able to replicate it. Could you do one final video and speak about two things: 1. How it MAY be possible for other regions (Unova Included) to do the same with Megas, Dynamax phenomenon, and Z-moves? 2. Could other regions (Unova included) actually replicate Megas, Dynamax phenomenon, Z-moves or terastallization? as for this video. I think it's safe to say that it may be a version of what happened to bloodmoon ursaluna. Just an adaptation over time. Anything else (Other thank the evolution process) just doesn't make sense.

The idea that the crystal Onix, and by extension, Steelix’s core, being a crystal harder than diamond and with strong magnetic properties isn’t as far off as one might assume. There’s a (relatively) recently discovered allotrope of Carbon called Q-Carbon, which is notably ferromagnetic at room temperature, and rather curiously, up to 40% harder than diamond in its pure bulk state. Also supposedly brighter, too. Now doesn’t that sound familiar?

Steel type =/= literal steel. Like with many other types, the Steel type is not about a specific material, certainly not just about steel, but also not even about metals in general (which I think actually moves away from its intended concept). It's about the concept of ultimate hardness and more general "steel-like" PROPERTIES. So Steelix having diamond-like cores fits perfectly with its Steel-typing in my mind.
