Thank you! In fact, growing up I wanted to be an archaeologist! But metal detecting is as close to that profession as I could manage at the time, and it's been a real blessing for me. :-)

I’m speculating that the watch was most likely worn as a pin. I was surprised that Matt knew so much about the watch, but after watching the video I understand why he knew so much. Love the research you guys put in to everything.

I can’t believe you custom made watches that you’re giving away! That’s nuts! In the best way. I was surprised and impressed with how Matt could pick up the watch they found and just start talking on it. You could see his love for them. What a fun and amazing thing to be able to have watches custom made for you. The research you guys did on the objects was great. I love trying to piece together the stories behind things so I enjoyed watching you guys do that. Loved the video. Looking forward to catching the premier, next week.

Looks like you guys are having so much fun!! Grew up in the early 60's. My grandpa would fill a baseball bank with pennies and then give it to one of periodically. I remember the fun counting the wheat pennies and feeling so rich as a kid with a couple hundred coins!! The watch is fun too! My grandmother from Sweden had a lot of old stuff and pictures! Always fascinating to speculate as a kid who they were!!

I had my cousin come over to my house with her metal detector hoping we'd find the latest greatest thing but we only found remnants of buried car parts (seems to be a thing in our little city), metal hardware and parts of old toys leftover from seventies. However, I did find an Indian spear head. It's a little longer than an arrowhead. You can tell that it isn't your typical piece of shale rock by the small tool marks along the edges. Looks like a mouse was chewing on it. The funny thing was I was just digging one of the gardens in the weeds and when I pried, this spearhead literally jumped up on my leg. At first I was just going to toss it because you see many similar rocks but something told me to look closer and I'm glad that I did.

From Phil. He cant seem to comment. "Hi everyone! I'm Phil who metal detected Nicki's and Matt's 1879 Vahlkamp House property recently. In my two visits there, I've had a great time with everyone involved. Not only interacting with such nice folks but also recovering a number of interesting and unusual buried items there. Thanks again Nicki and Matt, I hope to get in a third detecting trip to the Vahlkamp House soon! For everyone here, in decent weather I'm available to detect other private properties in the St. Louis area if emailed for details at "metaldetectingphil@gmail.com". I turn over everything I find to the property owners unless I'm given permission to keep anything found. Thanks everyone for your comments!"

I noticed that right away when Matt took the piece of watch n had this knowledge at what it was n knowing more than likely a modern time. After watching this video I knew he had a thing for watches. I think that’s great. It so good to find some history on these items you found. I’d be tickled to find a old button LOL. Love everything that everyone is doing to make this house a home for Matt n his children. Knowing some knowledge n history that goes with it is a bonus. ♥️😊👍🌟🌟

This video was fascinating! Thank you for having Phil come in for this task. I watched him on 2nd Empire and loved it as well. I appreciated the interview so we could understand the metal detecting hobby intricacies.. There is just something about finding things in the ground and being able to tie them to the people, culture and history of those who lived there in the past. Matt, your excitement mirrors mine. I was excited to see a little of the basement today. Any plans for that space? Isn’t Kaleb remarkable with his craft? I’m excited to see the work he does for you.
