Watching you finish the bus and the joy and relief in your first days on the road was so enchanting. I am sad to find out out this is the end of bus life for you and your family. I'm still in the conversion phase (did a roof raise and still working on the exterior re-paneling, boy is it quite a task to finish). Know you've been a huge huge inspiration for me, extremely helpful and motivating when I'm down (there's been many times I've wanted to throw the towel and I'm only in the beginning phase). I will play any part of your videos just to remind me of what the upcoming future could look like for me and my family. I've noticed many who have been in the bus life for a while have lately called it quits. I understand the hurdles and the reasons make perfect sense but it still saddens my heart. I hope we do come across each other even for a Hi if I make it to the conversion finish line. I still want to experience a glimpse of freedom with my 4 girls (Yup! That's right! All girls from 19 yrs (unless she decides for something else)to 5 yrs old, all homeschooling because it's our best option). Your choice though I completely respect. My kids wellbeing always comes first and completely understand as a parent. We who love our children will do everything and anything for our kids regardless of our own needs so they have a better future and life. I wish you and your family the best, health and happiness.
@MobileDwellings2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nomi. Thank you for understanding and I completely get it. It saddens my heart too when I see other families pack up and sell the bus (we might not be selling our bus, time will tell). It makes me so happy to hear that you get inspiration and encouragement from my videos. I do want to point out though because I see you're anxious about the conversion finish line. There is always the Bluebird Wanderlodge, a motorhome built on a bus chassis that can sometimes be purchased for surprisingly cheap! Not encouraging you to give up or anything, but just putting that on your radar. If you need help from me though hit me up!

@MobileDwellings Жыл бұрын
You're right it's important not to do that. I think it comes naturally to many to sort of monetize their children even if it's in the context of family content. But realistically they have no way to consent to that and for many kids I believe later on it will turn out to be the wrong choice for them especially when the financial insentive doesn't turn out to be there.

Thank you for welcoming us into your space, and sharing it all with us. You are very talented, and you have a beautiful family. I have been looking at older conversions, I'd really like to have an old 4104 GM charter bus conversion, with the detroit diesel, more for an RV than to live in, but something that we could live in, if we had too, definitely want to travel, and we are raising our grandsons, so it would always be an adventure in a bus. All I have found so far is on one coast or the other, or way up north, and either junk or overpriced. I like them with the factory windows and paint job, not all painted and slapped together, so I may have to buy a seated one, and convert it myself, and that is why I watch your channel. 😎

As a former Teaching Asst. in kindergarten (the teacher based her classes on Montessori methods) Nova certainly knows how to articulate her experiences and thoughts better than most children I ever dealt with. I would say the life you decided to live has a lot to do with that. Your wife made me laugh. Yes I saw almost every single Mom do the same thing. We had one stand outside our windows for 15 minutes once.

Devil's Advocate, the travel everyday model for bus life has never been practical or sustainable. A far more practical approach is buying a piece of land and traveling when you wanted to. There's nothing wrong with living in house but there is something wrong with giving up on a dream. "If you look hard enough for an excuse you will eventually find it". The good news is you have the bug and eventually, hopefully it will bite you again. See you down the road 😊

Wait. What?? There's no way this can really be true. There's no way that Nova can be five already, and there's especially no way Val can be a cliche yet!! There's also no way that I've been subbing that long. Somebody is making some stuff up here!! Ok, so the rat thing. Who else, other then a former fire fighter, is going to crawl through that tiny whole in the wall and clean out all that rat poo?? Strong work on that one, Justin. I thought cleaning a pack rat nest out of my grill was revolting enough. And I had 800 degrees of heat to help out! There's no way!! So...let's just say for a minute this story really is true. I can't wait to see what else happens on this channel. Sorry that you had the problem with the rats. They can cause major problems and glad that you were able to eradicate them and all of the mess they caused in your home. We had a fruit tree in our yard that had branches that touched the roof and had some fruit rats that ate thru the screen on the air vent and got into our attic. We callled the pest company and got rid of the rats, filled the attic with insulation that was treated with pesticides and rat poison. Also had the fruit tree trimmed and new vermin proof screens which we check periodically and have had no more rats or any insects.

I'm just glad you guys are smart enough you know I think the rad infestation might have been Destiny might have been the universe's way of telling you to get the f*** home cuz your kids are more important than your dreams apparently I mean that's the truth when you are a parent you don't have the luxury of doing this you can't you can't expect your kids to be okay with living in a cramped space every single day of their life I mean you did it the right way because you had a house that you already that you were renting out that was smart a lot of these people aren't doing that a lot of them a lot of people are just very selfish and they just say oh well I'm going to take my kids from a 1500 square foot home and put them in a 350 square foot bus and they're just going to have to deal with it I mean I just think that is incredibly selfish of a lot of these people doing this you know but in your case you guys did it exactly the right way so you should be proud of yourselves that you were able to do it then settle back in to your real lives I mean cuz you can't expect to have a bunch of kids and then just to be able to do that you know kids need social skills that you can't provide when you're when you're uprooting them and when you're doing this kind of s*** you're you're not giving them consistency so it's good that you were smart enough to know better I mean that's that's a really good thing
