My brother and I canoed and camped 120 miles on Michigan’s Au Sable River from Grayling to Lake Huron at Oscoda, Michigan.

I have wanted to do this since I was a kid. I am too old and decrepit now, so thanks for taking me along on your journey.

Maybe try to find someone that you can go with who is willing to take on the hard stuff. My brother who I went with has had heart issues, so I knew going into it I may have had to take on some of the harder stuff. Just a thought. Thanks for watching!

Some friends and I spent 9 days on the Au Sable. We never lacked for a place to camp. It was the most awesome trip I've ever done.

cool trip. Those were muskrats you were seeing. There are otters on the river here, but they are pretty rare. I see them more in the impoundments.

Uhhh, 3:52 is that a silver heron? an endangered species? don't laugh I'm not a bird expert. My scout troupe(1978 Troup 2 East Lansing, Mich.) canoed that in the winter, the snow was so high one could not egress a river bank. The dude in front had to watch for ice sheets that could wedge between the river bottom and canoe thus flipping you! Two canoes were flipped this way. Thank you for showing this.

Wow, doing that in the winter would be amazing! Hmmmm … I’m honestly not sure, I thought it was a blue heron. 🤷🏻♂️

great blue heron
@howlinhogАй бұрын
Definitely a Great Blue Heron. It's a little confusing to some when they see what is thought to be a Great White (primarily Florida) it is actually a juvenile Great Blue.

Used to do this in boyscouts the river has changed in 15 years 😂 I needa do it again

Allways like the rivers used to be the only roads in and out

I can row a boat canoe 🛶....lol...
@joelmurry13792 ай бұрын
What canoe is that?
@upnorthadventuring2 ай бұрын
It's a Meyers Sportspal S-15. It's heavy, which made it not ideal for portaging, but it's amazing for going through the waves that were in the backwaters and the channel. Virtually untippable.

Started out good , then it went all downhill from there LOL Should have done more of this myself instead wasting my life working.
