We Caught up with a few Pyrenean Mastiffs

We chatted with the owners of Pyrenean Mastiffs attending the open shows at the Belgian Laekenois National Specialty in Louisiana.

They are outdoor dogs since they are outside with the sheep flocks, the use them for that in Spain.

In Spain they have been with us between 4 and 5 thousand years (archaeological remains). These are Aragonese mastiffs or Pyrenean mastiffs, we affectionately call them the good giant, due to their character towards their loved ones, family, children, in their work (keeping properties or herds) are the best, they do not like strangers and they become brave and very very fierce and brave to the point of giving their life to defend the herd, property or family. If you arrive at a property here and you see these phenomena, it doesn't occur to us to get out of the car, until its owners appear (better safe than sorry) and if the owners aren't there, it's better to get out of there. They are loving, very intelligent, noble, a madness of race. Those of you who have one of this noble race know what I am talking about. a greeting

Really amazing dogs but, thanks to god, not fashonable (and i hope they will never been) so they are not too much ruined by humans, expo ecc.. And btw they are 100% molossoide! they came from the ancient molossoides took here in Spain by the ancient Fenicies population. Treat this dogs with respect and dont try to change their nature(gentle yes but also a fierce Guardian that has to live in the nature in contact with others Animals like cows, sheep ecc..), he will give you back all the best.

Great informational video! I'm considering a mastiff breed for my husband when he retires from army next year. He goes to upper michigan often n need a heavy coat mastiff that was gentle too,,,this dog would b perfect❤❤ thank you for helping us decide! I have a english mastiff who cant take the cold, so I didnt think a mastiff would b a option! Thank you again!!
