Howard Webb seems to be closing ranks, and to me, all I heard was, "We robbed and cheated Arsenal again, but I’ll defend it regardless."

I want to hear the audio from the ref when Pedro kicked the ball away. The incident was brought to the refs attention by the Arsenal players so what was his reasoning to ignore it? If he said “I have no choice” in the rice incident, it means he knew the rules, so why did he not apply them in the Pedro case. Is it because the audio proves he knowingly choose to be inconsistent in applying the rules which meant he could have let rice off as the audio will show he let off Pedro? Which means they’re purposely hiding the audio from us to quickly pass to the next question so’s to not draw any attention to the inadequacies of the officials 🤔

If a free kick is supposed to be taken from where a foul was committed then when Veltman first kicked the ball at Rice when Rice was walking away and had his back to Veltman then surely that would mean he had taken the free kick already.. So when Rice knocked the ball out of play it should have been a throw in to Brighton.If you disagree with Veltman had already taken the free kick then you would have to agree that he was trying to promote the ball forward to a more favourable position which means the ball should have been put back to where the foul was committed and the free kick retaken... Anything Rice did after this is irrelevant..So when Veltman first kicked the ball was he taking the free kick or illegally promoting the ball?? Just remember that when Veltman kicked Rice he can't possibly be deemed to have been trying to take a quick free kick as that is not where the foul was committed..

You’ve missed the key point Terry- that Veltman threw the ball forward into Rice’s area in order to cause this scenario. If he’d taken it from where it was nothing would have occurred!

He(Veltman) did not throw the ball at Rice, he kicked it as Rice's feet whilst Rice was walking away. Throwing(m assuming usage of hands) would suggest that the free kick was yet to be taken. Subsequent to Veltman kicking the ball Rice would have every right to play it in my opinion. It would have been better for Howard Webb to keep quite rather than attempt to defend the indefensible. It is clear for those with sober minds that the ref's squad had a pre-conceived idea to interfere somewhat

As someone who clearly only hears about Arsenal from second-hand, let me ask you this: when was the last time you heard of a controversial call in our favor? - Newcastle scored a goal that required 3 VAR checks...all 3 ruled against Arsenal - Brentford scored an offside goal. There were actually 6 reasons to overturn that goal. Lee Mason ignored them all and then "forgot" to draw the lines for the most obvious reason. They fired him instead of investigating, bc they knew what their investigation would show: blatant anti-Arsenal bias - we had a goal incorrectly overturned against ManU - against City, Kovacic avoided 2 straight red cards, and yet, in a different game... - Martinelli received 2 yellows from the same passage of play, something that's never been seen before nor since - last season, we got 2 worthless apologies. They continued to rob us, but stopped apologizing because they knew the apologies would make their bias obvious - Bruno Guimares elbowed a player in the back of the head, and it was ignored. Instead, they talked about Havertz being lucky not to be sent off for a reckless challenge in the same game. Havertz slid IN FRONT of the NEW player, and barely grazed his shin with his trailing leg. This will be a common theme you'll see when talking about Arsenal: the disingenuous rhetoric. If an Arsenal player goes down in the box, it's "he was looking for it" or "there's not enough contact for me", but when the same foul happens the other way, it's always "there's contact, so it doesn't matter how much, that's a penalty" - the other incident you will hear about (from Liverfools) is an Odegaard handball that should have been given, but by the convoluted rules isn't actually clear. What the Liverfools and pundits never mention is the BLATANT charge in the back later in that same game that also wasn't given - against Wolves this season, a player pushed Havertz to the ground, then grabbed him by the throat...not even a yellow - John McGinn pelted a ball into a prone Saliba well after the whistle was blown. No card Just look at this incident. Anyone with eyes can see that Veltman is looking to kick Rice. Veltman's a POS that was out to injure from the first minute. He threw Trossard to the ground well after the ball was out of play. No card. He fouled an Arsenal player, got up, and immediately fouled a different player. No card. If that cheating prick Kavanagh has "got no choice" but to book Rice, then why didn't he book Pedro in the first half for a far more egregious offense. Sure, they're NOW saying he should have been booked, but they're only saying that to justify the absolutely horrendous decision to send off Rice. Also, there wasn't even a foul on Veltman to award a free kick for in the first place! Notice how none of these idiots mention that Rice was walking away, Veltman kicked the ball forward into Rice, or that the ball was still moving. How is Rice delaying a free kick that can't even be taken? It's in the wrong spot, and it's still moving! Owen is right about the ball rolling matter. The restart has not been delayed if the ball is moving as it has to be stationary to take the free kick, therefore the player taking the free kick is the one who put it in motion therefore they have delayed the taking of the free kick, Rice has then touched it with his foot. If the ball had been stationary and then it was kicked away then its a yellow card, you said it yourself if a player puts the ball in the wrong place and its moved back to where it should be under this situation the yellow card should be given as the free kick has been delayed. Technically in this instance both players should have been booked for delaying the taking of the free kick. VAR are not allowed to get involved in matters that result in a yellow card as a punishment, its Reds and an obvious referee error only.

Had some basic referee course as a kid: One of the most important rules is: If you're in doubt, do never ever do a deicision that could affect the game? Last season MC probably got saved by a bad deicision, when one of their players put his foot in the chest of an opponent inside his own penalty area. It should've been a direct red and a penalty. None were given. Which would've very possibly have resulted in a loss and a AFC championship! I'm no AFC supporter, but seems like FA are giving MC preferential treatment!

Rice was moving away from the freekick when he had the ball kicked against him, he then tried to kick it back to the kick taker as he thought the kick taker would be where the freekick was given not winding up to kick him.

Agree Terry, the biggest issue here is the inconsistencies between calls. If there was no booking because the Southampton players weren’t in possession to resume play, is the ball moving not another reason that the play can’t be resumed? It doesn’t matter WHY the play can’t be resumed, whether the ball is moving or players aren’t close enough to resume. EPL refs = clowns

Veltman didn't place the ball. He threw it at Rice legs, who then knocked it. Veltman played the ref like a fiddle and he bought it. The excuses for blatant inconsistency is incredible

Watch the video again. Rice commits the fowl, he then turns and walks. The opponent, inadvertently kicks the ball which first hits Rice's heel and then is rolling past him. He clearly plays the ball. Now he played the ball twice; once when his back is to the ball.

All they could see was Rice kicking the ball away. If Veltman was aiming for the ball then I'd be shocked, I think he was aiming for the ball and Rice to cause drama and potentially get Rice sent off. It's a yellow card for relaying the restart, Rice didn't delay the restart so it's a warning.
