We Climbed Mt Chipotle and Lived to Tell the Tale!

As a local of Oakhurst I can tell you Mt. Chipotle has brought such joy to all of us. Even our local sheriff deputies have joined in, and launched an investigation into the "Grinch" who stole Christmas. 😆. They had a deputy dressed as Santa replant the flag! It has been such a hoot, especially during this time which can be stressful. Thank you to Larry Townsend for his pictures and wonderful story telling and lifting the spirits of this small town, he is truly a local treasure! ❤

Yes! I was tickled to see that! It's Monday morning, Dec 23, and I've yet to check Facebook to see what's going on today. Rumor has it that a fence will be erected around our beloved mountain very soon. Although we all know that it's temporary, I know I'll shed a tear when it's gone.

@@fayesheets5509 That's it, exactly! Childish fun, harking back to the joy of play. I may make one last journey to the mountain because it'll be fenced off soon. We all had a great time, but great times must end, like everything else. Not sad, just soberly reminded of the cycles of change. So what's the lesson here? For me, it's to remember to savor every day, even in hard times.

I cannot explain in words how much I adored this video. The “mountain”, the fact that you climbed it TWICE, and just the quirky way we beings glomb onto any sort of crazy sort of antics to get us through. I would have been hiking right along side you and laughing all the way!

@@msavp4481 I'm still a little surprised at how this silliness affected me. Big update on Mt Chipotle: Turns out it was the Grinch who stole all Mt Chipotle's finery! A video popped up today showing him running up the mountain, nabbing the tree, and running back down with it over his shoulder. It's all getting delightfully meta. The tree is back today, along with a basket of trailhead replica Christmas ornaments in a basket, free for the taking.

This reminds me of my teen years when any construction hills of dirt in Chicago made me want to go climb it because it wasn't cement sidewalk! So much fun, thank you for reminding me of human nature wanting innocent fun.

@@karen4you Hey Karen! Yes, that's it exactly. Mt Chipotle speaks to the inner child and all of us who remember charging up a hill of dirt and imagining it was Mount Everest. I haven't checked on his status today, I don't know if it's still there or if it's been bulldozed over. it doesn't matter, Mt Chipotle will live on in our hearts forever!

Glad you found something that lifted your spirits and made you happy. I was thinking as you were trekking up and down Mt. Chipotle twice, that a year ago that would have been impossible for you. And now a year later you managed it twice while talking and laughing and not collapsing. Truly a victory trek up the mountain.😀

I told David when you went right up that hill the first time , wow , she could not have done that a year ago ! I am so darn proud of you ! Than you went up a second time ! What a cool thing to be part of , so sad somebody took the original stuff down , but at least everyone is having fun replacing it !
