Working 6 hours every evening after work, 12 hours Saturday and Sunday 54 hours a week after a regular 45 hour work week, I completed a ground up restoration on a ford truck in 9 months 3 weeks and this was minimal creative effort just repair and replace. Just over 2100 hours. 2500 hours for all this custom work, frame, body, mechanicals, wiring, lines and fittings. OMG to accomplish this is the moving of a Swiss watch smooth and steady! I always feel bad for Kevin and his guys when people start hating. They are extremely talented and are always giving projects on tight deadlines. Sometimes you think you can a project done then things happen out of your control like wrong parts, broke parts or parts people said was available aren't and went on back order ect.. Kevin obsesses over the details and that's exactly what I'd expect on a car of this level. Steve understands and idk why people think they would know better than him.
@freedomfox81833 күн бұрын
Were there people hating? It's pretty much common sense you would think but not every shop can do a eagle build in that amount of time they are much smaller shop,not all shops have 10 extremely talented fabricators and welders in fact it's rare that shops have more than two or three guys on that level Kevin still got around the same amount of hours in Steve set 2500 hours roughly and that's what Cameron Johnson race cars estimates for a car 2500 to 3000 depending on level of build.... you got to remember some of these people are just haters living in their mom's basement that want to get a rise out of people...

Also These programs are like the most informative hard working best channels you could ask for especially if you have worked on and or driven a car on the track before. You can use a lot of this knowledge yourself on a rebuild or a father son rebuild or build. 12:27 2,500 man hours to build a drag and drive car of this caliber. I believe every word. Quick simple math, 2,500 hours is 62.5 weeks at 40 hrs/week. let's say 4 people work on the car instead of 1 person. That would mean it would STILL take a 4 person team 15.625 WEEKS (call it 4 months of non stop work, on ONE car with a 4 person team...!!!) sheesh!
@Shademax42733 күн бұрын
Only thing about that location for the tank is it is in direct line of the passenger tires. So in the rare instance where you get a big leak from it somehow going fast it could get dicey quick once oil gets on the tires. Very unlikely and i get that space is tight. That car is bad ass.👍
@Greg10963 күн бұрын
A lot of dry sump cars use that area for the tank, its extremely rare to have a failure in the tank area unless you hit the wall or something like that, nothing going to the tank is under any real pressure so line failures are pretty much unheard of, oil is only under pressure between the pump and the engine so any failure on the pressure side would be coming from the same area roughly where it would on a wet sump car (front or bottom of the engine) 99% of failures of the type you are referring to on dry sump cars are due to you crashing the car, and at that point tou have bigger problems

Guys, I admire your 24 hour thrash, I have done a few of those over the years myself, but in the industrial controls business. We are only allowed to work 16 hours straight now because working 24 hours and driving home is a good way to fall asleep behind the wheel of your car. It happened to a friend of mine after a 24 hour thrash. He ended up with a totaled vehicle in a corn field only about a mile from his house. I admire the work I see getting done at KSR and the guys are doing a great job, do NOT do 24 hour thrashes unless you plan on sleeping in the shop. Doing it right is what matters. We often underestimate the work to be done and it gets away from us, minute by minute. Projects are lost by minutes. Cumulative. At 50mph things that go wrong are fatal. At 100mph your chances are reducing badly. At 200 plus its exponetially catastrophic. Your energy on the move is 0.5 × mass x velocity² So the energy generated by a heavy vehicle at 200mph + is insane. In projects we always say if we hear "....we should have...." means "we didnt", and its bad Rather completely right than sorry. Kudos to waiting instead of putting a high end big $ project, with the life inside, at risk......
