Well Charizard is the more fully evolved version of it, Charmander looks more like a tiny lizard with a fireball on his stubby tail, also Charmander's tail is shorter in comparison to his body than charizard's. So the pokemon that he destroyed was Charmander. (I only know this because my brother is obsessed with pokemon, also I'm not trying to be offensive)
