Racecourse is a beautiful spot to camp right in between Cresent head (another great spor) and port Macquarie right on the beach but the dirt road to get there can be tricky

We went to one of those koala sanctuaries on Kangaroo Island when we went to Australia. Loved it! We also went to a place where they saved a bunch of different animals. We saw an albino Kangaroo!
@LisaAndJosh2 жыл бұрын
Wow, an albino kangaroo!!! What a sight that must’ve been. Love all the conservation work being done here :)

Hope you are both OK in this extreme weather all along the east coast. Your plans probably took you right into the worst of it. Hoping to hear that you are safe and sheltered. There is so much in Australia to enjoy but this is unprecedented and disheartening. Take good care of yourselves and each other.

Thank you for the kind message. We feel so glad to be safe and have been able to stay with a friend for a bit. It’s been so devastating to see how the weather has caused so much damage and loss. ❤️

In wiki camps there is the day use areas marked. Go into the reviews of the day use areas and people will say things like “stayed here overnight no issues, heaps of campers around me”… or “got fine”. It’s all in the reviews. Worst case senario you get a fine.. it’s $110. If you get one a week it’s cheaper then using campsites. Those camper vans (we have used them every year at Christmas) can last weeks without plugging in. Just turn the pump off at the main switch when not in used and just keep the fridge switch on all the time. The pump is where you loose all the electricity. As you drive your van charges the battery that powers what fridge/pump/lights.

Thanks for this tip, didn’t know to look at the rest areas!

Wow, yeah, it’s been a while since we’ve driven around in extreme weather like this. It’s hard to see communities be devastated like this. Hope things clear up soon

Guys, if you want some van life tips or at least ideas on where to stay, i would suggest you look up on these two yt channels. Firstly, CJ Explores: basically a couple's channel that is currently driving around australia in their convertable toyota, i think. They've been going to some of the best local places to visit. Next is Flying the Nest, tho currently they are out in the US, but before travel restrictions were lifted, they were doing van life from Western Australia all the way to Melbourne. While I don't think they have the same itinerary as you guys, i would imagine you would like to see where they parked and camped when they hit eastern australia. Safe travels Lisa and Josh!

Awesome recs!! Have watched some of those but will definitely look out for those local finds in their series

You need to know this famous Australian poem. Sorry about the rain…..but…. The love of field and coppice, Of green and shaded lanes. Of ordered woods and gardens Is running in your veins, Strong love of grey-blue distance Brown streams and soft, dim skies I know but cannot share it, My love is otherwise. I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of drought and flooding rains. I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea, Her beauty and her terror - The wide brown land for me! A stark white ring-barked forest All tragic to the moon, The sapphire-misted mountains, The hot gold hush of noon. Green tangle of the brushes, Where lithe lianas coil, And orchids deck the tree-tops And ferns the warm dark soil. Core of my heart, my country! Her pitiless blue sky, When sick at heart, around us We see the cattle die - But then the grey clouds gather, And we can bless again The drumming of an army, The steady, soaking rain.
