Kinda miss old servers, where the hubs are just a small area in the center of the entire map, and simply going outside of it is where the world start. As well as when people didn’t really care about building like an expert and just.. built.

Old minecraft servers really are a thing for themself. I recently found an backup of my old 2011/2013 (at least according to logblock) era server and got it back up and running. Just so I could visit it again with one of the friends from back then and show it to a few other people. Honestly, if you still know it from the past it is even more magical than just stumbeling across one and exploring it. I still should have backups from some worlds I played on in the 0.30 era. After watching this video I might try to import tham into modern MC with MCEdit or something. Keep the content going. It reminds me of the past so mutch :)

I just gotta say, its amazing how much time, effort, and care people put into something that may never be witnessed by anyone else, on a server which, in all likelihood, will remain obscure (although by some chance these 4 are no longer, just think how many other servers like this are out there which will forever be hidden in obscurity). Minecraft has an impact like no other game - its popularity, endless possibility, player-guided experience, and age all lend themselves to such unique circumstances.
@_Killkor

I love how Minecraft servers just get better with age, like a fine wine. Preserving history and mindset of people from a forgotten era. The biggest difference between Minecraft and the real world is no matter how ancient something is, in Minecraft it never gets covered by dust, nothing withers from old age, so stuff from 2010 still looks as if it was abandoned just yesterday. It's a strange uncanny feeling of a place frozen in time.

Im so glad you found Tregmine. I started crying from the memories there. A lot of the impressive builds were done to get the Builder rank, a psuedo creative mode more like VoxelEdit. The glowstone and soul sand would have been placed with the pattern command. I remember warp PVP being a nightmare, and there was also a glitch one time where everything was griefable. I had a massive shop in one of the more affordable starting areas that got destroyed, but I made some good friends in that area. Im glad it's back. I think warp Zippozo is my old warp before i lost my account

800k days would require more than 13 years to be reach considering the players skipping all nights, because an entire day takes 20 minutes and just the actual day takes 10 minutes, so taking it in consideration: 10 minutes x 800k = 8M minutes -> 8M minutes / 60 minutes = 133.33k hours -> 133.33k hours / 24 hours = 5.55k days / 365 days = 15.22 years Minecraft Age now: 2022 - 2009 (considering oldest possible) = 13 years Update: I spoke with one of the server admins and he told me that even they have no clue on why it has that many days.

@@theultimm yes, there is no way of a Vanilla SMP have this many days. They must have made some kind of modding to accelerate time like, for example, tick rate from carpet mod. EDIT: Maybe there could a bug in some version along the way, but further investigation is needed. It could be a bug on updating the server throughout the versions as well. But the point here is that the number of days on the server cannot be just by playing the game.

I love that players have kind of inherited servermaps and are making them available. Sometimes I randomly think of servers I played on 8 years ago and wish I could visit them and say hi to the people I met there. Communities popped up and existed for short periods of time. We played almost daily and some felt like friends, the server became our home in a digital dimension. Like when you were a kid and got a new best friend while on summer vacation. But then we all had school and work and server shut down. I kept up with a few friends for a while. Mostly not. Now its just public servers with too many strangers, I only do occasional sky block when Im bored. I kind of wish I had gotten more screenshots back in the day. Like photos of friends when we did pranks, events or had ceremonies when we started new world maps.

I play on a german Minecraft server that was created in early 2011 and still uses the original map from 2011, and still has a very active player base with a lot of new players joining recently. I already started playing there in 2013 so this server holds a lot of nostalgic memories for me, and it's great to see servers that are so old and hold so much nostalgia for many players still being very active. It is a nostalgia that can be keept alive by playing on the server again. There are a lot of these servers out there that still use old maps from many years ago, and it is interesting to see the change and creativity that players have left on the map over the many years. Minecraft servers are like simulations of a city development, with players continuously adding creative works and infrastructure to them. Often these kind of servers have nice communities of people who have played there for many years along with newer players who joined recently.

Heyo, Shire member here. The Shire is the best server I've ever seen. I'll list some of my favorite builds on the Shire that y'all should definitely check out if you're ever visiting us. If you need help, you can ask me anything on our discord or in my DMs in our discord. Anyway, here's my favorite builds. Mandolin Island! Mandolin is very small but it's such a nice place. A lot of small colorful builds crammed onto one island in a very nice looking way. I love to just go there and walk around. I've forgotten who built it though :d Friday Funland! Friday Funland is a very, very old amusement park, located at the center of the Shire map, close to spawn. They've used up almost all the land they had available to them. Friday Funland eventually got a revamp by Suntinfunny and SeagullsRule. They added a bunch of attractions. I myself own a beach and a rollercoaster in Friday Funland. That beach was for sale and I bought it for one block of space in my own amusement park lol. The Boneyard! Really scary place. It's absolutely massive, bones and stuff everywhere. It really makes you wonder what happened there. I like to imagine that most of the bones are from ancient creatures that were huge. Hermes! Kieran's flying city on a big ball. The reason I love Hermes is more of a personal thing. When I joined, Hermes was still under construction. Kieran shared some pictures with me and I was like "Ooo, where'd you build this?" and the rest is history. That aside, Hermes has airships. 11/10 u.u

I wonder if hunting for old and obscure servers will become a pastime. After all, if its few enough people doing it and a large volume of these old obscure servers, the impact on them would be relatively low. Think how many incredibly interesting servers there are, biding their time over the decade. Not to mention all the weird, wild, and wonderful builds to explore which have been hidden away and gathering dust. It seems like a wonderful nostalgia trip and a potential for all sorts of wild experiences.

Absolutely stunning... digital works of art that are well-worth preserving. Love seeing the full spectrum of builds, from the bolder Cubism of the earlier areas to that phenomenal metropolis at the end (definitely a few people on the server with a passion for civil engineering/town planning!).... I can't get over the railway, complete with London Tube/Toyko Subway-esque colour-coded map & stations! 🚂💜 Brilliant video 👏

I'd say the newer generation of players just interact, act, and play differently. That being said, the game it was then, and what is now, it's completely different. I would almost go as far as to saying it's not even the same game anymore. Anyhow my experience with this game is when I played classic version in browser there where forums and all kinds of wicked things that existed before survival. I was 10 years old then when I got my first account (less than 300k copies sold at the time). I'm turning 23 soon now. I remember my first server called KZB FREE BUILD + FREE PIE (on the browser in a public Minecraft list on minecraft.net). I have come and gone through the years along with the communities I was apart of. No videos, screenshots, or anything other than pure memory alone exists for me. How I thinking about and remember my dual core think pad would almost melt running Minecraft at 20 fps. And how I wonder how friends of old are fairing with life now? The time before Skype, or TeamSpeak, or when it was uncommon for a 10 year old to have a cell. There are people I will forever wonder about. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Oh my god used to play tregmine back in 2012. It was the first minecraft server I ever joined after my buddy who introduced me to minecraft got me on. In order to mine/place blocks you had to conduct an in chat message interview with a mod where you had to say you were 18 and understood the rules (I was in 4th grade 💀). Pretty quickly we had a gang of a dozen or so 12 year olds that flew around the map and X-ray with nodus. We lived in complete squalor garbage builds ( we lived in an ugly cobble/stone amalgamation and each had our own room that was like 2x2.)that were very close to spawn and literally like 50 blocks away from one of those massive walls you show in this vid. Stealing was rampant. You had to place blocks above your chests so because there was no locked storage and if you wanted ur shit back the mods had to check who broke/placed the block because they couldn’t tell who opened the chests. I remember rejoining a few years later in middle school and this kinda weird guy I tangentially knew was online with a giant cock skin taking part in an orgy in a treehouse village. Never logged back on

i still get alpha slabs on my old map server also ^^ yeah need a pickaxe to break them. a march 2012 map when i was playing on 1.2.3, but it's not the actual map for playing, you get a portal to acces to it and playing on but better to stay on a recent version server map, you realize it's pretty boring to play long on an old map w/out all blocks and biomes..

I wish the popular YTers wouldn’t make these sorts of videos because it dispels all the magic of being able to discover it yourself Like how travelling to an interesting, inspiring, exotic location only for it to be one giant tourist trap of bad food, overpriced tickets and too many screaming children... except the internet equivalent Even if they aren’t grieved they’ll be heavily whitelisted and overpopulated for some time, it’ll make them laggy and generally not great places to play

This kind of story, made by players, is what makes minecraft soo good. I have my own friends server from ages ago... i have entire servers from 2011 on my computer right now, but they all are frozed by that time, i once try to make open server with bukkit and claim system, that was a huge failure due to player base start massive wars and my system in that time allow attacks on homes because i want people to try protect they stuff, it not goes well... Also i have one private closed server with "Tree of Fire" the name is simple, it was a tree made by player, close friend actually, and another player a know person that study with me in that time just put fire lagging the entire server, we even build a view plataform to see the Tree of Fire getting down, i even try to take off the fire, my friend the owner just call, let it burn, and about 10 players was looking for that gorgeous and giant tree take fire, the reasson? my friend, the tree owner thief successfully about all diamonds from the other player, he made a secret base on random spot, but after a trade, some player what the guy getting on the woods, my friend the owner of tree just was curious and found a cave with torch on it, going down he actually have no glue, but randonly he found a strip minning tunnel that lead to a non place with furnance and cheap stuff... but that was a starting point, after some walk he found a wierd lokking place and dig a few blocks of dirt that was a secret storage room with tons of resources collected manually, i mean, my server was for sure totally survival at that point, soo the feel of loose that amount of stuff for sure has effects. Another player, also closer friend of mine did a real entire monument to the Tree of Fire that was in front of his growing castle, it become the Temple of Fire... In that world, i have done really massive plataform with castle on it, i made all support blocks pillars under the plataform a place that is accessible by knowing the secret entrance, my redstone test area and my entry to underground minecart system that drove me into my xp farm and others cool stuff... that server was cool we has a entire other server with the world globe fortress, a friend of mine take a really long time to secrectly dig a entire portion of the map, chunks and chunks to bedrock, and in a single day with tons of lag the ground was gone with TNT massive explosion that somehow he managed to control mostly perfect revealling it and making the entire floating base make sense, he build a giant floating island block by block more than 200 blocks wide and dig the entire ground under it, the explosion and small repairs reveal that the entire floating island is suposed to be a giant base igniting the fly mode and just gone, obsiusly is just stop in the air, but is really cool to see how he made it almost real for players working arround he construction perimeter... i love how people make they own stories on minecraft and sadly for many many years people just enter others history and forgotten to creat they own, i play alone for many years as well... I always love play survival, any build i do is more accomplish when i do it in survival, i for reasson that just make sense first build on creative them move to survival, but is really cool to finish it on survival LOL
