This is something that 98% of america misses out on, true family operation. Grandparents, mom & dad and the little ones all working together to accomplish a goal! I got recruited to help do this the first week I lived in Nebraska to the yearlings. When I left and moved back east, the crew threw a going away party of fried oysters and a keg of beer.

God bless those children and your families for not have if to be raised in the cities. If I could do it all over again I truly believe I would go that rout. It’s unfortunate that we as people forgot that way of living. Even myself have forgotten even though I do remember raising our food and growing it. In California out of all places, we’ll it was farm towns before I saw it blow up in population. It’s sad but I guess that’s progress unfortunately.

@ Trinity Vandenacre; I grew up on a cattle ranch in Eastern Montana, and yes, I have eaten Rocky Mountain Oysters (bovine testicles). I found your channel and I am reminded of my youth growing up on my dad's ranch, near Glendive, MT. I was my dad's "son" since he didn't have any sons. Oh, by the way, I can say that I never watched a single episode of "Yellowstone" or any of the sister series. I knew from watching the TV ads that these series didn't have the complete truth when it comes to ranching! Thank you for educating folks about ranching!

@terryes1872 Жыл бұрын
In Australia only the Aboriginal stockmen (cowboys) tend to eat what we call 'bush oysters" and nothing fancy, just throw them on the branding fire.
@erniecothran31127 ай бұрын
Trinity I have to say that cows are so easy to train. They only have to do something a couple of times and they got it. Take milk cows, they will go to correct milking gate without being where to go. I only have a few feeder calves that I separate when feeding and they will separate themselves just about every time.

One thing you are very wrong about... Watching them graze is actually very interesting. Can be even soothing to watch them feed. But there is more there than just that. What types of grass and forage do they eat? How do they transition from nursing to grass? Etc. There is so so so much to them grazing, and I personally would watch videos about just grazing if you produce them. I have goats and sheep and I have so many videos on my phone of them just grazing, and I would have even more videos, if I had the time.

How did they not know that the rushing river would be a problem, prior to moving the herd across? Would have saved them a lot of needless work, if someone would think ahead a little bit. Ranchers aren't super bright apparently. Work smarta, not, harda.
@willowtinklenberg3652 Жыл бұрын
Not so much about not knowing it was a risk. We knew that and were prepared for it. Their pasture, (and therefore food), was across the creek and cattle don't cross bridges naturally. Sure would be easier if they did though!
