hahaha an easier way is putting you thumb on the first 3 strings on the forth fret, and then on the last string, second fret, put your pointer finger there

Actually, I feel like in a studio version Tyler plays 2nd fret bottom string after sliding to it from the 4th So it makes: We play 2nd bottom -> slide to the 4th fret -> from the 4th we slide to the 2nd fret and play the bottom string -> only after playing it we play the bottom string open -> after playing the bottom open we play the 2nd string on the 2nd fret If it makes any sense, comparing to the tutorial, there's one extra action in my explanation, which is 2nd fret bottom string after sliding from the 4th. It will probably make the riff a bit more complicated, cause you have to play that string really fast, but I believe that's exactly what it sounds like in Tyler's acoustic version. P.S. Sorry for many letters, hope it helped you somehow.

The riff for beginners; ring finger on the last string, pick the last string and slide to 4th fret then back to second lift off pick the last string again no finger on it (open) and then pick the second string while pressing the second string on the second fret
