Had a XJ years ago. Got rid of it because repair costs were piling up enough that I almost bought another car with it. If Jag's reliability doesn't increase to acceptable levels, why would anyone want to get an even more expensive electric version?

@@Jag-leaper It was a used 2005 that I bought in 2008. The guy I bought it from only had 20k miles on it. The repairs started within months and just never stopped. They started fairly small, but kept recurring along with new problems cropping up. I finally got rid of it in 2017 when I traded it in for a Ford Taurus Sho. I've been more than happy with the new car. Broke my heart when Ford stopped making that model. *sigh*

In defence of BMW, they have various ranges of cars for different audiences because there isn't one for everyone... 1 series for the hatchback lovers, 3, 4 and 5 series for the business man or family man, 7 series for those who want more luxury, X series for SUV enthusiasts, i series for the eco crowd, and M series for performance cars. All Jag had to do was market a new range and aim it at a different demographic or target audience

BMWs are fugly now. As for Jags, they were awesome back in the day. And like Mr. H says, they competed with Rolls Royce and Bentley. And still to this day, the Jaguar Daimler is the most comfortable car I've ever been in. And yes, more comfortable than a Phantom.

@@SpareSomeChange8080 Me and my wife literally vomited after we saw the new BMW 7 Series on the roads. We used to have one and good job we moved away from BMW. I mean who the hell approves garbage designs like this? Who thinks it's actually a good piece of design? It's just hideous. Unfortunately, Jaguar have much worse issues. Years ago, the Daimer was absolutely superbly comfortable and with a beautiful interior - much wood and much leather. Oh so nice!! And then, I don't know what what happened to them. Instead of competing with the best of the best, they downgraded their cars and competed with Mercs and BMWs, who they were never going to compete with. The cars became more unreliable and worse uncomfortable and designs that were generic. Nothing stood out. So we went with the competition hoping that one day Jaguar will make another nice luxury car but that never happened and now will never happen. Such a shame! I love the C, D and E-Types of old. I even love the XJ-S and their Jaguar limosines that competed with the largest of large Rolls Royces. These new EV Jags, if they ever come to the market, will be souless drivel.

It was exactly the same with Bud Lite. And that destroyed the brand and the stock. To this day it still has not recovered. Consumers know what they want, what the like and what they expect. If a manufacturer ignores that, the customer walks away and goes elsewhere. Disney / Lucasfilm / Marvel / Trek / Doctor Who all these things have suffered losses of epic proportions because of woke stupidity...

Exactly, Jaguar is associated with retired people who play golf, people who can afford them. A person in their 20s and 30s will likely set their sights on an Audi or BMW but even their prices have gone through the roof so the younger generation will likely be going used cars and prioritising saving for a house.

I know, so would I. Nearly bought one a couple of years back, but went for a later model TT convertible in the end. Simply due to the interior, seats, gauges and luxury levels being better in the Audi. One day I will have some version of a Porsche Boxter or 911 though...just to say I have had one and to experience it. Jaguar used to mean something in the 60s with the E type and some quality top end motors, but it has a real reputation for being over priced and unreliable now. I also nearly bought an XJS in the early to mid 90s. And ended up not going that route due to costs of tires and parts and the rust bug....

Imho and believe this and manipulating stocks is the driving factor here. Think about it, how many of the woke movies have flopped but they keep making them woke? The only thing that makes sense is it's either an Agenda (pushing that woke nonsense onto young and impressionable kids) or they're crashing stocks to buy em up and then stabilize the companies and make money. That’s why share holders have boards, so people that make such moves that destroy shareholder value, can be removed for those who know how to create value, which often starts with understanding who your customers are and making them love their ownership experience, not insulting them. Capitalism has a way to correct what board members don’t, so sad to see a brand with such a rich history destroyed so quickly.
