Totally agree with the brakes. You have to press unreasonably hard to bring it to a stop from low speed. I think it might be something to do with the desire to creep like a traditional auto box. But apart from the wierd braking software, this car is unbelievably good to drive. Sooo planted. Wafty but secure.

I loved the review and liked the B-roll with the lights in the parking lot and the other features. First I have to tell Mercedes that the RED seatbelts were so off-putting that there is no way I would pay the extra 9K or 10K to reduce its looks so dramatically. That just sucked. Now this is the second review I have seen and I would really like to own one. Though that is not likely on my budget, at least in my lifetime. My budget is more like the BYD Atto-3

That is a sweet looking car! I think I’d probably give them a break on noise because of it being a smaller car, is harder to damp sound. More cabin space and a good trunk that opens from the outside seems better than Tesla. But less room than Model 3 makes this a niche vehicle, for those who don’t need to carry much. Would hope they can tune the brakes better, and support it for 15 years at least at that price! point
@FreedomToRoam86 Жыл бұрын
One more comment - after renting a Tesla Model Y on vacation, we turned it back in after only a few days and got a BMW instead. Tesla was a PITA to drive; I can’t imagine why an executive would choose one!

What was wrong?
@webcomment8895 Жыл бұрын
No, I would not give them a break on noise at this price point. You can still sound dampen a smaller vehicle and this is not really that small. You pay for them to do “harder” things at this price point anyway and I don’t see what makes a smaller vehicle harder to sound dampen. Generally, smaller vehicles are louder only because they have buzzy little engines, and don’t have acoustic glass and much sound deadening applied because they are being built to be cheap. So, the manufacturers cut costs in sound suppression. No such excuse for this vehicle.

I just wanted to let you know that the reviewers should not discuss what they do not know. In Europe, the standard 3-phase charging is 11kwh power, 22kwh onboard charger is optional so it is available, yet most charging stations are at 11kwh. In addition, having 22kwh power at home requires a house grid upgrade and it is not common. Most of houses has 10kwh grid power limit and is sufficient, therefore 22kwh power on board charger is optional and usable only in very specific cases.
@bavariancarenthusiast27227 ай бұрын
Agreed - most private chargers will sport 11kw, public though 22kw is very common as public infrastructure over here (Germany)

Why on earth does such a large car not come with a spare tyre? I can, sort of, understand why they are being squeezed out of the very smallest cars, for reasons of space in the car and also cost. But a "tyre repair kit" can only go so far at keeping the car moving. There is no excuse in a large car, particularly one costing that much. In some circumstances a spare tyre can save lives. edit. I tend to agree with all of your comments about it's long-term viability.

what bothers me about the EQE and the EQS is that in germany there are LOADS of options to choose from, and most of them are simply not available here in the UK. for example, here in the UK you can get a 450+ with various extras (with rear wheel drive) or the AMG version (with 4-wheel drive). in germany you can get a 450+ (rear wheel drive) or a 450 4matic, 500 4matic, 580 4matic or AMG (all with 4-wheel drive), and that is just one of MANY examples. WHY THE DIFFERENCE??? what sense does that make?
@ericanunda Жыл бұрын
I feel you reviewed this car expecting EQS standards. This is to be equivalent of a E class and for that it delivers completely. It's not meant to be a sports car just a mid level managers cars.

1st owners certainly, but 2nd or 3rd owners might. Especially as so far luxury EVs depreciate even faster than their ice counterparts so they'll be good deals to be had relatively soon.

Our expectations is that very few people can afford a car like this. However, because of how the auto industry works, we've discovered when we turn down higher-end models... we sometimes miss out on more affordable ones. It sucks. We don't like it, either. - Nikki.

I don't think the model name is long enough "EQE 500 4Matic" is just too short, you need to add some extra letters and other stuff to the model name. Maybe it should be called "EQE 500 4Matic GTI turbo ABC all wheel steer XYZ Mark IV - with a sunroof".

There its no way any of the current Mercedes compare to the panzer-tank Mercedes of the 1970s. Plastic this and that instead of metal; lots of electronic gadgets to go obsolete; Gee-whiz dashboard surfaces instead of metal-backed real wood; just not the same material quality as the old indoor-outdoor olefin carpets and MB-Tex upholstery that wore like iron. Maybe the drivetrains will hold up better than the interiors, once they have the experience of millions of units produced, and millions of customer miles logged.
