Ukrainian military intelligence units regained control over the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant, Ukrainian authorities said in a Tuesday afternoon statement.
"Fighters of the GUR MOU carried out a systematic sweep of the plant's buildings, constantly engaging in contact battles with the enemy in densely built-up conditions. In some cases, Ukrainian special forces engaged in hand-to-hand combat with the enemy," the statement said.
According to the statement, after securing all 30 buildings of the factory and capturing prisoners, GUR passed the territory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The premises of the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant served as a stronghold for Russian troops fighting in the area.
Russia's advance in the Vovchansk direction started in May 2024, intending to spread Ukrainian troops thin by adding a new direction of active combat.
The advance stalled once Russian troops advanced 5 to 10 kilometers (3 to 6 miles) deep into Ukrainian territories, but the combat never stopped.
