I’m currently homeless due to bad circumstances and I’d move in there in a heartbeat but I would definitely look after the place and respect it and protect it! Beautiful place just a shame to see it unused and empty. I could be onsite security at the same time 🙏🏻🤝🏻👊🏻

This is actually the thanckes house in torport original but was dismantled and moved six miles to portwinkle and reconstructed now formally known as the whitsand bay hotel in 1910. Sadly closed in 2018 and sold all its furniture and is up for sale for 1.5 mill. . Actually a remarkable bit of history the house was moved brick by brick

This Hotel was abandoned about 2 to 4 years ago, I watched a lovely video of a wedding it was a beautiful hotel for such occasions sadly I think it was a victim of the Covid crisis as the revenue lost from weddings, functions and the Summer holiday period would be crippling for such a large establishment over such a long period of time...hopefully it will be hotel soon and bring joy to its guests once again

Hi All, this building is 5 miles from me. It has been sold to be converted to Air B&B rooms.The building originally was built 8 miles from its now position, it was removed stone by stone from torpoint and reconstructed in it position now at portwinkle, you can still see the letters and numbers on the stones.The stain glass window depicts an actual sea conflict.

A beautuful building, so near the sea with gorgeous views. The salt water dies tremendous damage to buildings and wooden furniture so the upkeep would be expensive. I would say its a legal situation going on that's why there is still power. Sometimes several people own a property and dispute over the selling price can stop a sale for years, then decay starts and no one benefits. I do hope this building is saved. Thank you for showing this one. 💕🇦🇺

Yeah and no scrappers ripping it apart for the pipes, etc either - which was a relief. Judging by the lack of dirt, I do wonder if it's closed only since covid lockdown no.1 and now has someone trying to do something with it. I think if they want it for a hotel again, they really need to cut room numbers to make the fewer rooms much bigger. I mean some were so tiny you couldn't swing a kitten in them, let alone a cat.

I’m surprised there is no one living there or it hasn’t been taken over by squatters! let’s hope it’s left alone by them. It’s a shame its left like this it definitely needs saving. I really appreciate the way you try not to disclose where this property is.

I think that about so many abandoned houses, warehouses, office blocks, hotels, etc. They could be restored, but if not formerly housing they can either be adapted and converted or knocked down and housing built on the brown field sites. It would certainly negate the need for green belt land being used for housing. Also I think councils need to put a stop to office blocks and warehouses being built that then sit empty for years.
@stevenhoman22532 жыл бұрын

It's hard to believe places like this end up empty. A beautiful building with amazing surroundings and views of the ocean too. Someone really needs to save this place before nature starts having its way and damp really begins to cause some damage. It's unfortunate that it's already started to go in places, but hopefully it's nothing that can't be repaired, without having to restore the whole building. I should wait until the end of videos before commenting, as it's worse than I thought, and who knows what other nasty things could be hidden out of sight. I was disappointed to see so many tiny rooms, which don't really befit such a grand building. It has massive potential though, but whoever takes it over I think it would be much better if they reconfigure some of those rooms, knocking through to create some much larger rooms. Yes, you'd have less bedrooms, but think of what you could do with them, ending up with a really special hotel with incredible views.

it blows my mind that when normal people don't pay power bills it gets cut off fairly quickly. Abandoned places like this that still have power baffle me, either someone is STILL paying the bills or the electrical company hasn't shut it off yet...with all that stuff still turned on the bill wouldn't be small either o_O

If the electric bill is paid by direct debit or standing order from an account that has funds in it the electric won’t be cut off. If a company is owed money for electric and arrears are accumulating they will soon cut the power supply off.
