To eat a buffet you have to pay first not just take anything from the table. Even if you get the food coupon you have to present it at the counter at the entrance of the hotel's restaurant before you can eat or drink there. I know many hotel restaurants do accept walk-in dining for people but still you have to pay first for buffet not like restaurant where you order and you eat then you pay.
