We finally got a calf table

My grand-folks have a slightly more beat up one of those in Idaho that no ones uses, didn't know they fetched that much money. Funny how much stuff people leave behind, the folks that lived their before left that and an old 9n ford tractor that didn't run and all it needed was an exhaust manifold gasket. scahweet.

@MrYussel you brand the calf either on the left hand side, or the right hand side (or both) There is a metal plate on one side of the shoot so he is reversing how the calf goes in so they can be branded on the other side. As part of the process of registering a brand through the state, you pick the shape of the brand, location (hip, shoulder and what side). You can also register ear notches and dawdles as part of your unique identification system. The latter two are lesser used these days.

@ruwithlee1970 yeah been busy, got a big baglog of videos to edit, working on that right now, but mostly Ive been getting the summer pastures in Lambert ready for cows, couldnt really tell you why Kaylas so shy on camera, shes like that in person too, just not super social

i never had a calf table we just grab and throw them on the ground hold it down and dehorn and tag them we have a dairy so we dont brand them plus there are no other dairys in the area so we dont have to worry about them getting mixed up.

@wagner59270 That's better than having the title of tool monkey, got that at school when I described what I do at where I work when they don't have me racking vehicles or holding stuff in place. I do the oil changes too once and a while if things get busy but I'm learning which is important.

I have never seen an animal activist with enough brains to know ANYTHING about ranching and what it takes to keep a calf healthy. They just want sick miserable cows like you see in 3rd world countries.
