Apples to Apples might have been the first game to feature this specific rule set, but CAH was the one that inspired a multitude of similar games, turning it into a genre. To overly simplify the history: The Angles and the Saxons were germanic tribes from northern europe that both invaded Briton (the british isles) at about the same time, mixed with the resident Gaels and Celts and became the Anglo-Saxons. So yes, if you have British, specifically English, heritage, you probably have some Anglo-Saxon ancestry, but to describe anyone alive today as an Anglo-Saxon would be incorrect. I've noticed a recurring error recently where a lot of people tend to refer to any and all white people as "Anglos" or "Anglo-Saxons" as though they weren't just a single ethnic group from a specific period of history.

When people say Anglo-Saxon these days, they usually mean it in the context of WASPs (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant).
