This is the movie where Scarlett Johansson became a pioneer of what's happening right now with the Writers/Actors strike. At the time of release, we had been hit with the pandemic and for some reason, Disney decided to do a simultaneous theater and Disney+ release, and Johansson's contract only considered box office sales (because no one ever considered being in lockdown for almost 2 years). She apparently was going to get zero dollars for streaming revenue, which is the reason why she sued Disney/Marvel. In hind-sight this was the beginning of what the actors are fighting for at this very moment, when some people gave Scarlett Johansson some bad press!

But the villain really resonated with me- someone who takes away young, “unwanted” girls and turns them into assassins through absolutely brutal means. Dreykov saying that women are “trash”…unfortunately a lot of cultures still see women that way, especially in ones where “honor killings” still exist. And I feel like it’s an extreme version of sexism that still exists, and I’m glad they brought it up because that point really hit a chord with me.

People say this film is bad because they compare it (AND EVERY OTHER PROJECT) to Endgame. At worst, you can say this film is “mediocre,” when compared to other projects. Mind you though, this is a Black Widow project; a human assassin with NO super abilities. It’s not gonna be crazy & “out there” like an Avenger film or Spider-Man film.
@IDyce88 Жыл бұрын
yeah but that comparison is irrelevant...what is important is what we LEARN from this film: the backstory of Natasha and her "family", Yelena, the Red Guardian...they all have stories of their own to tell. Also this film get's HUGE points for using "Smell's Like Teen Spirit" in it's opening and having some really dark and tragic opening cinematics...we all know the story of Natasha and her Sister being trained as assassins and how they suffered...but the opening showed us the steps they went through...it was awful and sick. The story of the Red Room and Black Widow is just as important as Black Panther's story...or Captain America's story...or Iron Man's Story...but no fans are like "meh...it's boring." Well i say fans are just childish...by the time Black Widow came out they had come to expect too much from TV or Film MCU...they want every production to be mind blowing like Endgame...well that isn't how it works...not for me or purists...what matters is capturing the characters right.

This movie is perfectly fine; the reason most people don't like it is because it should have been made and released between 'Civil War' & 'Infinity War'. Natasha's sacrifice in 'Endgame' helped save the Universe and they even pointed out how Hulk tried to bring her back along with Clint wishing he could let her know that they won and Wanda assuring him that she does know. ...Her story had a conclusion, she got closure...this movie ruins that!

Seeing this movie you have a better understand of Natasha's sacrifice later more clearly that is not just it had to be her but it was meant to be here. Also all those women where widows but Yelena will be the New Black widow going forward in the MCU also you have to keep in mind even though the widow program took the mind-control expect from the Winter soldier program the widow program been around since the1940s.

This movie was more about Yelena than Natasha, which makes sense.

We used to have thick clouds of fireflies all over the place here in Northern Virginia when I was a kid.... now... you almost never see them.... it's like they went extinct. Must be some chemicals or something in the environment. Sad. It really made the nighttime here kind of magical.

I, personally, feel this is one of the better films from Marvel Studios. Does it have plot holes? Certainly, but it is enjoyable on the level of the Captain America series, and I'm even more saddened that it will likely not have a sequel. The Hawkeye series has links to this movies, from the closing credit scene, and that Hawkeye series is, in my opinion, the best of the serial shows. I certainly hope they have a season two. I truly hope you two react to that, because it is fun in so many ways, and refers to so many things in the movies you have watched. Loved this reaction, thanks for sharing with us.

Who are "they", and why should we listen to "them"? Seriously, though... while I recognize some of the issues with the film and parts that could have been improved, overall I thought this was a solid send-off for Natasha, and a fine way to introduce some new characters going forward. And please do look forward to more appearances of Yelena Bulova in the future! By the way, Budapest is the capital city of Hungary.

They completely ruined Natasha in her last appearance she didn’t even act like Natasha she acted like Scarlett. We didn’t even get 1 single scene of her in the red room. In no way is this an ok movie, maybe if you don’t care about nat its east to say “yeah whatever” but people who waited a decade understand this is not good

Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross is an Army general. He is the father of Betty Ross, love interest of Dr. Bruce Banner before he went on the run. He was involved in the secret project in the early 2000s trying to replicate the super soldier serum using gamma radiation which resulted in the accidental creation of the Hulk, then was trying to track down the Hulk. He had a contentious relationship with Tony Stark. He later became Secretary of State of the United States, and went to see the Avengers at their compound after the incident in Nigeria at the start of Captain America: Civil War, to inform them about the Sovokia Accords. He oversaw The Raft, a special high-tech prison in the middle of the ocean built to contain superhumans, where several of the Avengers ended up after the events of Civil War. He's going to show up again in the upcoming film The Thunderbolts, probably in a more prominent role than he has ever had before, this time played by Harrison Ford (as John Hurt, the actor who portrayed him in this film, passed away.)

The name you're trying to remember is General "Thunderbolt" Ross. The evil military man who wants all enhanced under his thumb so he can use them anyway he wants. His daughter, Betty Ross, was Banner's love interest. General Ross hounded Bruce in the comic books and in the Hulk movie. And he's the one who tried to get the Avengers to sign the Sokovia Accords. Yeah, that man. Yelena next appears in the Hawkeye mini series. "Black Widow" was supposed to be released before Avengers: Infinity War," but Covid delayed it. Great reactions! After that, unless Disney/Marvel releases something before then, we'll see Yelena in the "Thunderbolts" movie coming out next year. Along with Alexi and Bucky. That's going to be interesting. Walker will be in it, too, as the U.S. Agent. And Ross will be played by Harrison Ford, since William Hurt is playing in Heaven, now.

I wouldn't say this movie was bad. I enjoyed it for the most part. Some say this was more focused on her dad, sister and mother instead of actually the Black Widow. Wich i can kinda agree with a little. They also ruined Taskmaster character abit. Kinda how they did deadpool in X-Men.. Im not that familiar with the character but apparently its nothing like he is in the comics. Also It did come out way later then it should have tho. This came out after Avengers Endgame. After she died. This should have come out way sooner then it did. Also Scarlett Johansen got done dirty by Disney+ by showing this on Disney+ while it was still in theaters so she lost millions of Dollars. Which was also a breach in their contract.. Movie was good but Disney did her dirty.
