I have also raised some babies. And brought one baby squirrel back to life. He had maybe moments left from hypothermia. His sister on the ground close to him was already gone. The squirrel i have bonded with for 7 years had 6 babies a few springs ago. They were just old enough to start venturing from the nest, but still not strong enough to climb icey wet trees and fences. We has a freak ice rain storm and mom had been trying to get babies into a birdhouse all morn. So my daughter and i went out to look around. Mom boo went up to the one baby like she was showing us or maybe saying goodbye and as she walked away we saw the tiniest finger move. We rushed them into the house in warm towels, and started cpr and agressive rubbing. It took about 20 mins, but little peep finally opened his mouth and made the tiniest peep noise. Hence the name lil peep. Once he started coming around we placed him next to a warm wheat bag and put him in a rabbit cage. A few hours later he suddenly came around and decided he was not happy where he found himself. We had hoped to give mom enough time to fix something for her 4 other babies. But lil peep wanted mom. I wish so much i had recorded any of it. We called boo to the door for a peanut and opened the cage and she and son had the most joy filled reunion. She did not care about the peanut. it made us cry. I felt so bad we were too late for the black female. This summer my daughter cleaned out hr bbq and unhomed a bunch of baby mice. We tried for 3 days to get mom to come get them. So i brought them home and raised them. feeding every 2 hours 4 mice who did not like what they were being forced fed. Then buy the time you got them to bathroom and cleaned up, it was nearly time to start over. I got no sleep for nearly 2 weeks. I had thought the last time i did that was hard with one we had for over 7 years. She went through 3 sets of petstore friends. She loved every one. Im close to releasing them soon. I have to this time. one is a boy. I did lose one about a week ago. she got out while i was checking on them, i set a trap but no go. Day 3 i found her barely there, sitting on the floor below the cage. She seemed to perk a bit after first round of Pedialyte but i went in an hour later and she was gone. It broke my heart as i had brought them from babies, with eyes not open yet. 4 tiny fur peanuts turned into 3 and i have to be grateful for that i guess because they would have died with no mom. I also think they were not all from the same group. The one that passed had slightly diff fur. There is nothing more rewarding as a nature lover, to save a wild animals life.

I watched a news program featuring a raccoon rehabber that said they really need the special formula for raccoons. I don't remember what the difference was, but she did say it causes digestive issues. She said the raccoon formula is very exspensive & has to be ordered special. I'm not judging at all. I am grateful that you helped this little cutie. I am trying to be helpful in case you want to check into it & should you rehab any other nursing raccoons in the future.

Long time watcher, and I'm always so very pleased at how you use your platform to advocate for NOT having raccoons as pets. It would be so easy to be unethical and focus on the cute clickbait. Really enjoyed the educational content in this and your recent weaning video - I'd love to get more educational content to watch alongside the viral content, looking into raccoons as a species more and their behaviours as pets versus wild. Oh wow, I'm so glad she made it. 💖 I think it's ridiculous when vets say it wasn't a medication that caused that a downturn, when it so obviously was the only new thing introduced. And when the reaction was so soon afterwards. 😕 I wonder if the dewormer was just too much all at once. I'm not at all a fan of one-time dewormers for very young animals.

Oh bless you earth angel. Right place right time. You had me holding my breath a few times, and i started crying. I can not take suffering. What are you going to do with her? Have you named her yet? May i offer a suggestion, (DITA) based on a sweet raccoon i was blessed to make friends with, during covid lock down summer? She got me through a very hard time. She would come every eve and i would sit out on my patio every night and she would eat dinner with me, at times she sat on my lap. and played in the yard all night. She even played ball and tug with me. I also had 7 baby skunks, she adored one of them, and tried to mother her. As the weather got colder, i had to stop sitting out, but still set her dinner out. But she just stopped coming. I still miss her. I have a ton of vids i have no put up because the make me sad. I named her (Dita.) Short for bandita, that was short for bandit, until i knew she was a girl. She was such a blessing in my life.

Yeah we weren't sure if she was going to make it either. The only reason I have the clips I did for this video was because she was looking better. When I first saw here she wasn't moving at all and was barely breathing. Luckily she made a full recovery! Oh thats a pretty neat experience. Was she a full grown raccoon when she started visiting? How long has it been since she stopped visiting?

If they have less of a chance in the wild for someone to put time effort and a whole lot of love into any bubby raccoon just wanting to beable to live safe and protected and loved ... THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH DOMESTICATING ANY ANIMAL! So long as you DO NOT ! I REPEAT DO NOT ABANDON THEM WHEN THINGS GET HARD . Instead hold them close let them know more often that you are there you love them and you want them to thrive above and beyond ✨️ but also having a yard of some size any size is better then nothing maybe even creating an area in or out in the yard relating to a wild enviroment somewhat to help them adapt enough but also if they eat certain kinds of plants or grass etc.... maybe grow some out in the yard to so when they are out side in the yard just relaxing they can forge for snacks 😅😊❤
