In this one, we enjoy Derek's last day in Montana by doing some fossil hunting, and boy were we in for a surprise right off the bat! The first concretion of the day yielded a monster ammonite!!! This thing is going to be phenomenal after it is prepped up! After this fantastic start, we continued to hunt and found some fantastic ammonites, clams, baculites, and ammolite! At the end of the day, we head back to the shop to start prepping all of our discoveries! This video got a bit too long to do it in this one, but make sure to keep a look out for the video where we prep the big one coming very soon! Huge shoutouts to Derek for coming up to Montana and joining us on so many adventures, and here's hoping we can do it again soon! I hope you all enjoy and I will have another one out very soon!

I work all over E. Montana and was always kinda fixated on Agates when I was out in the field. The channel has opened my eyes to more types of rocks and fossils I can bring back home and grind and polish, thanks for taking us along, take it cool!

You should report the sighting and possible GPS location of the Short toed lizard to MFWP, Last I knew the Forest service was trying to gather information on there rang and habitats in Montana. Edited to add that there's been sightings of these guys all the way in Beaverhead County as well.

You can't make a video that's too long, Theo. It's such a pleasure to watch you work on your fossils. It's been really fun watching you and Derek go rockhounding together. Can't wait for Florida!

Ok, my opinion, the best video of 2022 Theo! Wow! Do you think that huge ammie is a "Placenticeras meeko Boehm"? You two did very well.. Those Nodule are usually found up by Glendive, you scored on that little guy.... Awesome video Theo ..👍👍

Such good fossils. The Ammolite scores were fantastic but the monster Ammonite is crazy and Holy Barite Baculite Batman! Great to see Derek so satisfied from the trip, can't wait to see the museum. That thrill of color would indeed never get old, like Opals getting old or something, not going to happen. Thanks for including the stabilizing step for the ammolite. It's so good to watch the prepping of the smaller ammonite pieces too, another great meditation to add to the faceting. We must be so thoroughly meditated? LOL. Thanks for sharing, cheers.

Duuuuuude!!! I love all the fossils. I love watching the air tool remove all the rock to reveal those awesome little gems. Your videos make me want to move to Montana. 😁😁 Keep the videos coming. It was really awesome to meet you earlier this year at the shop. I still need to do something with the Pet Wood I purchased. I'll send you a Picture of my project when complete. I hope you have a great Christmas.

Oh Wow! You guys had some amazing finds! I love your fossil finds the best. I mean i love the rocks, but i am a fossil fanatic! The ammonite finds, are just fantastic! My goodness! The ammolite is amazing! And those little ones are too cute! And that big one, is just gorgeous and i cant wait for the video of the prep on that one! Yay!!!! And the baculite with the huge, gorgeous barite crystals in it is awesome. Ive never seen barite crystals like that before, especially sticking out of a crushed baculite! How cool is that! And all the adventures with derek have been amazing! That was a crazy whirl wind adventure that will keel you in amazing memories and content for a while to come! Thanks Theo! I look forward to how much of it makes your shop! I just bought the last two baculites you had there! Thank you!!!!

May I suggest you make them when possible and sell silicone molds in your Esty store? I would love to have a small Ammonite mold. one of those little round spirals things. Also crystal point cluster. Amazing finds. Gorgeous colors.

I missed this yesterday because I was out rockhounding with Liz and Charlie of Adventure Closet and my buddy Jeff HuntingRocks. Charlie found a top shelf druse piece similar to the one I sent you! Anyway… I’m going to get back to checking out the ammonites. 😂

I found a very large concretion, it looks like agate from the pieces that have broken off. It’s almost identical looking to the large Ammonite you haven’t prepped yet now I’m dying to know what yours looks like and how to tell what mine actually is! I love how you can look at some thing And know exactly what it is or what’s in it! I am certainly not at that point. Thanks for sharing your video and finds! Truly I did not want it to end

Looks like you guys had an amazing time. Why did you swap back to your faceting machine for a flat lap? I've been eyeing a flat lap for myself like a hungry dog eyes a pork chop, heh.
@TheoKellison
@TheoKellison Жыл бұрын
Great question! I actually only use the faceting machine as a flat lap on ammolite. It is some incredibly soft stuff and reaaaaally does not like the mesh plates on the flat lap(leaves tiny scratches and does not shape out very well), so i like to do my shaping and polishing on my 600 grit hard diamond plate but it only fits on the faceting machine; for literally anything else i will use the flat lap, but ammolite is some very touchy material so it helps a lot being able start at a much higher grit!👍

I like the conglomerate which has two parts you are going to put together, it just represents a variety of sea life all at once. I'm not a fossil person, and I'm beginning to wonder why not. Looking forward to the giant ammonite being prepped and your trip to Florida. You're the best.
