The Bearded Explorer

Күн бұрын

In this weeks video myself & Ben from Lost Adventures discover a home completely overgrown & reclaimed by nature.. yet still has everything left inside from the previous owner! This is another one of thise places where sadly the owners passed away and had no family or close friends to leave anything too.. there were signs of decay inside which showed this home has been left for many many years, and will probably sit here for many more.. hope you enjoy this week video guys 🙂

It's sad to see. Feels like one of the couple passed away and the other couldn't cope with the loss. It would explain the hoarding and those buckets. Not been abandoned as long as I was thinking at the start since Hot Fuzz came out on DVD in '07.

I noticed Avatar is on that DVD rack, the first one came out in 2009 i think....so this place hasn't been vacant that long. Amazing how quickly nature can reclaim land and buildings.

Desperately sad. Seems to be a happy couple living in an idyllic location until old age tales it's toll and it all ends with the most humiliating suffering. Definitely one of your best but disturbingly thought provoking. Thanks.

The artwork at 13:49 on the mantle piece is a very good version of the infamous King Crimson album cover from 1969

I saw nothing in there beyond the early to mid 90s. A mirror and candle holder upstairs and in particular the style of the green men downstairs. Where there was all that blood that seemed to be a bed moved into the room. I would guess further given the more gross side of things, that the chap was either too ill or infirm towards the end, and/or the water supply was poor or lost. I lived in a similar area and wasn't on the mains water supply, it caused great difficulties in times of water shortages. It didn't strike me as that they had children, maybe nieces/nephews or friends children in the photo. No toys except for collectibles at the time. This was a gorgeous house tucked away with tonnes of character. Even if someone could save it, they'd have to break their way in to reclaim the driveway 😮 I loved that the rambling rose continued to live and flower decades after the last owner left..... beautiful, BEAUTIFUL place ❤❤❤

It's incredible how the nature takes over... It looks like the house has sit abandoned for decades, but then there's Avatar in the DVD shelf (and couple of other late 00's films) meaning it's most likely closer to 10 than 20 years when that house was last lived in...

So sad to see a place like this in such a state. To think this was once a home where people laughed, cried and made memories.....and possibly other things, going by the photos you found.....

Once again, your video's remind me to enjoy my life while I am still here. It's so sad to see that towards the end, that couple obviously suffered. The old adage 'You're only young once' applies and while I am almost 70, I presently am still fit and healthy, but I will redouble my efforts to have more fun.

The photo of the man on the bed is actor Brian Rawlinson who was in carry on films and Last of the summer wine to name a few of things he was in and he died in 2000, and it was a lovely video .

I think the house has been occupied beyond 2000, given the modern large flat screen TV and it's Soundbar, so unlikely that the stained bedding is linked to a death there in 2000. It could still be linked to whoever owned the property, but I doubt it was that particular actor.

Hi Colin, My attempt to interpret the lives of the home owners here, are that there are two distinctly different generations that have lived here. The much earlier photo of the house with the lady out front was the original occupant with her husband. She was the gardener who put the cherubs all around the garden when she and husband developed it. I think they also collected all the large Chinese ceramics and ethnic sculptures in their travels years ago. But there is the more recent life of a son who never left home. But he was into art , and collected the sixties and seventies music albums, and painted some of them. The painting of a pink face with open mouth flashing white teeth, is a copy of a King Crimson record " In the court of the crimson king" early seventies and all the early Bowie ones, plus the movies you like. The only newish thing i saw was the large flat screen tv, and the computers would have been his too. But he lived on his own once they passed on, couldn't get rid of anything so it became messy and the garden overgrown. That's my take . An arty family with some stunning pieces. The Buddha head you tapped and asked about is cast bronze, South east Asian, lovely. Cheers again. Take a pair of long pants in your back pack, avoid the pain. Cheers again..

I have seen this cottage some while back. It was fairly untouched then but now it's been totally trashed and looks like squatters have been in at some point which is a shame as it was gorgeous and full of antiques and other interesting objects. Sorry about the nettle stings, the pain seems to last for ages but only if you don't rub them with a Dock leaf. Miracle herbal remedy! Works a treat😊.

This place is just something else, although the person who lived in the house was a hoarder we can see through that and can imagine what this place would have been like, the wooden bed frames and the amazing ornaments, buddhas and beautiful wooden wall plaques would have made the home a joy to live in. And then with the garden statues etc I can only think that this would have been very pretty back in the day, and what with how remote this place is would have been an amazing place to live. Absolute awesome find, thank you 😁🫶👍🏻

Dad passed away in 22 and within 6 months the house had cobwebs. We keep going in to clean the house until it’s sold to keep it presentable. It doesn’t take long before a place deteriorates. He was a hoarder and I had to take 7 months off work to clear the garden and buildings. I think families either aren’t there for them or have deserted them. When dad died the family disappeared as it was just too difficult for them to bother they just want the money but some couldn’t give a dam. Sad reality of life.

Thanks for another amazing video. The lady in the black and white photo and white frame appears to be Eather Rantzen ( of BBC “That’s Life” fame ) or very similar. Some of the videos are less than 15 years old and I’d think the big flat screen TV would help to date it. DVD “Avatar “ came out in 2009 so the interior decay seems much more advanced than the age of the possessions, perhaps left to the elements. So sad to see a house in this state. Thanks again we really enjoy your explores.

Flowers = Rhodedendrons not Hydrangeas. Similar but more invasive. Lots of gardeners think they are a pest because they spread like wildfire and in some stately homes, they are being removed as they take over. Great vid Colin so interesting. Take Care out there and wear joggers or take some with you - Silly Billy 😜 Janice 👵 xxx Oh, and take sting cream with you just in case. That first photo was of Esther Rantzen and this looks like an actors house.

Hundreds, thousands of places like this hidden totally in the middle of nowhere and still counting. Car collections and dozens of vehicles stacked side by side, bumper to bumper barely even visible from behind the bushes. The strangest thing is that nothing is being done with this.
