Those large shells are from abalone shellfish, a rather expensive delicacy. Here, in New Zealand, they are called paua. The colourful shells are often used for decoration, or sold as souvenirs.

Lovely little place, but looks very remote, probably an old couple who have passed away and their children moved away for jobs etc. So sad for these abandoned homes, would make a lovely holiday cottage❤ Thanks Dale and Lisa xx
