A Promise Ring from the 60's 70's!! Wow, I think it's super cool how you guys are having adventures literally in your own back yard! I've always lived getting kids involved to encourage their curiosity. Its come full circle for me. My 3 girls are 25, 31 and 36 now. The 2 oldest each have a little boy (10 months and 4 years old). Now they do the same thing with my grandsons and it just makes my heart smile 😍

I have done this. I re-wallpapered in a rental once in the military in Germany & wrote our names & US address. Remodeled two areas of our previous home and left things in the wall. In one place, I put a zip lock bag with our picture (we were the 1st owners of the house) , a newspaper, 4 of the newly minted state quarters. That's all I can remember but it was just a fun thing to do wondering when will someone come across those things.

I agree with Heather. It appears to be one of those interlocking engagement/wedding ring sets. The part that he said looked like a butterfly is where the diamond on the engagement ring would nestle next to the wedding band, making it appear to be one ring with a larger diamond in the middle. The two small diamonds you see on the wedding band you found would actually be accent diamonds next to the larger engagement diamond.

I found old newspapers from 1964 and metal cars along with the some boy shorts! I loved finding these items in my kitchen wall and we also added some of our things back into the same paper lunch bag🤗 it’s an awesome feeling to tap into the past🥰

We'll obviously a note, but also printed pictures of the Reno with the date. It's always awesome to find old pictures when you are going something in your home. I'd do a pic of the outside of the home and well, along with any history you have of the house as in previous owners, dates of remodels, major maintenance dates you may have like furnace replacement, roof replacement, etc. And a thin weekday newspaper from this week sometime

We put a Mason jar time capsule in our home when we got new flooring. We put a picture of us all and I wrote a little bio about our family. Then we each found something to represent each of us. My daughter a littlest pet shop cat. She loves cats. My other daughter something from Star Wars ect ect. It was really fun. I'm so glad we did it. Also when I was a child we did it in my childhood home in the 80's! So fun!!

We put a time capsule in the wall of our house that we started to build in the fall of 1999 and completed in 2000. We put a copy of the original house plans and the first newspaper of the new century. We added a letter and pictures of us for the new owners. I love our turn of the century home and wonder who may find the capsule. Of course I have thought of many other things I could have put into the wall. A stick with video from your channel is my suggestion. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful videos.

We just renovated our kitchen and put a gallon zip lock bag with newspaper and recipe cards, ear buds, CD, DVD, a letter about our family and when we bought the house and from who. We also put in picture and photo copies of the the house before and after the renovations.

Great great idea, write a short story about how this came about, and ages of your kids and what they wanted next family to find! News paper with date...iconic soap, a really old flip phone, maybe a toy? Theres so many things it's hard to nail down! Coins! See how excited the boys were to find something valuable, yes I'd put some coins, jewellery is to personal I think. Unless you have something you'll never wear or like! Good luck!

When we were building our house we took about a year and a half till we moved in . The swallows built a nest in the rafters during the summer before the windows were in. We put a note in a little bottle in the empty nest before sealing up the roof saying 'this was the first family reared in our house - a family of 5 swallows'. I like to think someone will find it in many many years to come. On another note I watched a documentary where a man found a confession to a murder written on a piece of timber in a roof in the 1800s .Someone's conscience got the better of them and they had to confess secretly. The murder was solved because if that piece of timber! Houses can hold some great secrets.

I love how you left the note for future residents to find along with the actual nest. How very thoughtful you and your husband are. On another note, do you remember the title of the video regarding the confession to murder? It sounds intriguing and like something I would enjoy watching. ~ A number of years after the death of my father in 1998 I found myself back in the family home my father had built in the late 1950s- early 1960s. My mother needed someone to help her care for her house and property. Anyway, while doing some laundry downstairs in the basement I spied an item that my Dad had placed on top of one of the floor joists. It’s a leather bound little book about framing and carpentry, published in 1895. It is now one of my most treasured possessions. My father built the house mainly by himself in his twenties. He dug the foundation by hand and his mother purchased a house that was being torn down to be replaced by a medical clinic. My Dad used the 24’ long beams and the wood, doors and windows to build the house for his wife and then three, soon to be four, daughters. You can still see the marks of the tools used to shape the original beams. It’s a good, solid and happy house.

When we gutted our main floor bathroom in 2000 we were hoping to find some goodies but found nothing. When it was time to put the walls back up we put a TON of “Y2K” goodies in there. Calendar, coins, Poke Mon cards, Beanie Babies, newspapers and a note. When we redid our 2nd floor bedroom a couple of years ago we added newspapers and a nice bottle of wine with photos of our kids through the years as they all grew up along with a newspaper. We did this with a room addition we did 30+ yrs ago. We put a few coins in a glass jar. A note from us with our names signed on the note. We also put a little calendar in the jar with the date and year. We also on the note told the owners of the house that we hold they enjoyed living here as much as we have! We are the original owners!!!!
