In this video we took a very special trip to Taos New Mexico! This is our first out of Texas hunting video and we are so excited to share it with all of you! We had the pleasure of hunting in Taos Canyon, 9k feet above sea level and found some exciting things!
We visited a few really cool New Mexico staples while we were there too! Taos Pueblo, Meow Wolf, and Taos Rio Grande Gorge Bridge to name a few and we take you along for the ride!
We put a lot of work into this video, and we hope that you all enjoy it! We did a few different things and added a lot more educational content in this video. If you like the differences, let us know in the comments section below.
We hear in feedback that our videos should be more educational, so we hear you and we take what you say and try to produce the best videos possible for you! Let us know what you think in the comments and don't forget to subscribe! Hit the bell if you would like to be notified of our new uploaded content!
I would also like to say, that our amazing artifact discovery, we decided it was best to leave it on the land we found it. It was a bit more sacred in our opinion, than most other artifacts we find! Although, it was the best find of my life to date, I am happy to be able to share it with you in this video!

Just to be clear. This was privately owned family land. Which in NM artifact collecting on private land, you must obtain permission from the land owner. We had permission, but did not remove the artifact from the land. It was returned where it was found.

Did geology field camp out of Taos. Mapped all those flood basalts in the Rio Grande gorge. Amazing experience!

Wow, that pottery is Amazing, personally I wouldn’t say that is modern, I found a lot of native pottery here but never almost a whole pot, found my largest shard a few months ago and I was blown away by that, I have found a few small whole pieces like a spindle whorl a few months ago but finding a whole pot is something dream about, that metate was freaking cool too, I probably would have lugged it out, amazing fossils as well, New Mexico has been on my bucket list for years and if I ever make it there I definitely want to check out that place, great video, I appreciate the text but my eyes are getting so bad I’m gonna have to watch again with my reading glasses, I didn’t catch what was written at the end about the pot, I was already typing but I’m gonna watch it again, I appreciate you sharing, Safe Travels!!!

Such a cool find! I would have died. Really cool that you decided to let it be kept there in NM among the land people consider sacred.

The pot seemed like a very cool find. Resembles Taos smeared corrugated ware so between 1250 and 1600. Could be earlier. I know you said you left it there, but I don't know it could have then been photographed on a hardwood countertop from what appears to be a kitchen. It is illegal to remove artifacts from public lands, as well as, vertebrate fossils not including teeth. One more tiny point. You mentioned that some of the more common fossils (or footprints) discovered in New Mexico is the t-rex that is sadly false. There has only been one possible footprint of a t-rex ever discovered in New Mexico and only a few possible t-rex fossils. I enjoy watching your fossil adventures.

Thank you! The pot was found on private land that the home in the video is located on. The pot was found on the homeowners property. It was brought inside the house for a further look, video, and safekeeping

You're correct in the State Of New Mexico. In the end of the episode we mentioned having left it at the place of discovery. It was certainly a beautiful piece!

@@danimosher7604 the house in the video is the property where the pot was found, about 20 yards from the back porch in the hills. The land where the home sits was originally Taos Pueblo land a very long time ago. The pot was brought inside the residence for inspection, video, and safekeeping - but remains on the property.

@@danimosher7604 the pot had already been moved by the previous homeowner. We did not know where it originated from on the property or where "in situ" would've originally been. There were several other artifacts found at this location that were not included in the video for security reasons. They remained in situ as there was no indication they'd been found. I appreciate your concern but this isn't the place to get upset. Removing the artifact from the previous homeowners backyard and out of the elements was the best choice. And it is only illegal to remove artifacts from one property to another, or to transport them out-of-state without permission.

@@TheAdventurousCouple your right and I appreciate the fact that you left it there, kinda pain to get the papers for it too. I have a nice piece that was passed down to me, found long before the law was made. I donated it to a respectable museum close so I can view from time to time

Pottery gets buried for a reason! Unless it was gifted to you it’s NOT yours to “Discover”. I hope you put it back where it was found and covered back up in the same dirt. That’s not something you mess with.

Yes, at the end of the video we explained that the pottery was left where it was found . Never brought it back with us. We already were aware of that.
