A Paradise. Japan is littered with them from Northern Kyushu all the way to Okinawa.

Of course we have places like that in America, Joel. Have you heard of Hawaii? How about the Florida Keys? Also the islands off the west coast, particularly California, and the gulf coast. Come on, Joel…
@Joelfriend20 күн бұрын
Ahaha of course Hawaii and Florida, California. We will definitely have to check them out at some point! Hawaii and California is definitely high on the bucket list can’t believe we forget them 😂

Nice I have been there a few years ago and even more south on Ishigaki and Iriomote. On that last island we did feel as the only western people and almost nobody did speak Englisch. Would go back anyday if there would be not so much to explore (in Japan alone).

Oh wow that must of been amazing! We did look online about ishigaki it looks beautiful as well, will have to add it to our bucket list!

Not sure the American guys who were Joel's age and younger, slaughtered on those islands thought it was paradise
@johngrant769625 күн бұрын
Same can be said about the lands all over the US during civil war and all the other expansionist wars the US has waged against Native people, Mexico, etc.
@willlyons982325 күн бұрын
@johngrant7696 Not sure WWII was a deliberate expansionist policy of the US, although that certainly was a by product of it. Instead, instead of a lesson of geo-politocal history, I was referring to the young guys on that particular beach, at that particular time who's blood congealed upon the sands and hills of that island. But you knew that
@johngrant769625 күн бұрын
@ yes I did know that and appreciate the efforts of the greatest generation, men like my father and uncle who fought fascist regimes in Germany in Japan. BUT sick of Americans thinking the US is so innocent - especially regarding immigrants since EVERYONE on US soil is from immigrant roots. Hypocrisy at its worst. We now have a Fascist regime preparing to ruin what is left of our great Democracy. Shame especially with the ultimate sacrifices made by so many brave men and women to defend the constitution and our democratic freedoms.
@willlyons982325 күн бұрын
Feel the same way tbh. It's a product of getting older b/c we notice all the broken promises by every generation of politicians, while as you say young men go and fight for their egos. But occasionally, just occasionally there is a cause worth fighting for. There's that famous quote - “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” Says it all imo
