As a parent of a kid who games and as someone who also games, it's nice to see other parents who are actually paying attention to what their kids are doing in their games and on the Internet. I'm seeing comments criticizing the parents in this video because their kid lost a chest of fortune, but at the end of the day, I'd much rather have parents who love me and care about me enough to protect me. That's worth way more than any silly pirate treasure.

Yeah i agree. I dont think hitbo did anything wrong but i probably would’ve bounced the first time she was talking to them. Either way was a cute wholesome interaction, and as a parent you have no way of knowing who is on the other end of the game. Good parenting. Im guessing the whole kid crew was a family because they all left at the same time?

It's fine that they pay attention, but they could've just played safer seas and she wouldn't have had to worry. Gaming is a community, and not everyone is good, but to shun them away from all interactions isn't going to help them in the real world. Glad they were paying attention, even though it wasn't enough to recognize what was really going on, but it's just a game either way.

Yeah I actually quit today. I didn’t sign up to be griefed. My experiences have been things like people spawn multiple camping at the same time using blunderbuss without a single hole in the ship or setting it on fire to sink it. I eventually quit ten minutes or so later. Then I set out to open crew just to try and have fun with people to play pve with. Then people joined, used the lock in brig vote immediately and griefed me while calling me racial slurs for another ten minutes or so before I closed the game and uninstalled it. Never seen a community do things like this this often. That was only some examples of what I’m seeing in the last few days.

I had a friend quit just a few days ago because he had similar experiences so I was stuck playing alone. So far the majority response from forums and other media has been demeaning comments encouraging bullying or following up with more crude shitty comments. So yeah I give up. Guess half the community or more wants even less people playing the game until people get bored and it dies.

I used to tell my son not to talk to others online/play online etc. halo 2 era lobbies…. Anyways eventually I let him play online but no voice chat. Shortly after I started to get all these voice messages on my live account. Like violent hate mail. I asked my kid “how good are you?” Then watched him play and he was cleaning out lobbies hitbotc style. I introduced him to SoT last year and our first battle he boarded the other boat and not 2 seconds later he’s like k they’re all dead now what? Lol. Best teammate ever

I've been playing Sea of Theives as a new player for the last 2 weeks and honestly. This game feels like you better get good fast. Because us new guys are literally at times having to go up against veterans or high-end players. At least me and my guild saved enough to buy all 3 ships😂😂😂😂

@Random51620 I'll give you that. I have noticed alot of players have been leaving us alone for the most part. Even some higher level players have sailed next to us to give us tips and advice. We got lucky a few times and stumbled across players who were about to log out and gave us their supplies. Even though I know the tricks of how not to make noob mistakes. Its still starting to pop up of players who don't care that your new and attack eaither way.

@Random51620 We literally had to resort to Kamikaze tactics in the game. We had a high ranked gallion ship chasing us so my 2 friends told me to pull anchor. The gallion ship grappled us (their mistake) and my friends preceeded to charge with kegs and sacrificing themselves to destroy it. Nice 80,000 Gold after that👍

Oh how I would’ve loved to cross path with someone like you today, on my first day on the High Seas!!! The only people I met were reapers who killed me and sunk me even after I told them Hi and that I didn’t have any treasure yet cause I’m discovering the game. First encounter, after they shot me I came back, the guy who killed me said ok, we’re friends now. I tried to explain I was just doing my first Tall Tale and it was my first day in SoT… he shot me saying “shut the f*** up.” Here’s to hoping I meet nicer people on my next travels…

If you have Game Pass, which a lot of Xbox and even some PC players have, you don't need to purchase the game, it comes with the subscription and can be downloaded. Also, parents who want to limit their children's exposure to random player chat on the Internet aren't dumb, they're responsible.

@@Wr3ckEff3ct I've played games all my life and I know how to set privacy settings on my six year old's Xbox profile so he can't communicate with others, download games, make purchases, or add friends without my permission. It's not that straightforward if parents aren't gamers. In those cases, parents need to actually watch what their kids are doing, and that's what you saw there. You're calling them dumb for being good parents, straight up, and no amount of justification changes that fact. It just tells me you're probably a teenager or a college student with no real responsibility. God help us all if you're actually a parent, but I'd put that at less than 5 percent.
