From what I remember they end up finding their way back to their wielder I think? Keqing's vision story mentions her trying every method to try and dispose of hers when she got it because of her stance on the Gods' power and the Adepti so she was really annoyed about it, but it was unbreakable and she couldn't find a way to dispose of it so she inevitably accepted it and let it slide. I could be wrong on some details but I feel like they're sorta tied together and are inseparable by fate somehow.
