I just realized what these are. This is just the natural progression of Simon and Lewis's Minecraft adventure maps. Simon even mangled his vocal cords from years of doing Professor Grizwald.

Practice test or not, Forgiveness didn’t really impress with the puzzle mechanics. There are way too many items that do nothing but distract the player from the real solution. You might say that it’s good game design because it makes it more challenging, but to me it’s like a Chekov’s gun that never gets fired (or in this case, a Chekov’s sledgehammer that doesn’t smash anything)
@GreenEyedDazzler5 жыл бұрын
StevensonCharles No you’re totally correct look at all good puzzle games like Portal, they give you the pieces and the challenge comes from making the connections. Hiding stuff in the environment just muddies the design

For International Fetish Day, Tom and Simon indulge in their fetish of being locked in a strange series of rooms with a soothing male voice waxing philosophical at them over the PA system

To be fair, that's a pretty sophisticated fetish.

@@TheLateLordKardok ASMR, domination, abandonment trauma, and maybe exhibitionism? Or would that be closer to reverse voyeurism? It sounds possible enough, but its gotta be pretty bleak if not only do you need to be kidnapped and threatened with death to get your rocks off, but you also need your captor to set up an intricate array of tests to prove yourself to them? I bet somewhere out there is that far gone. Probably.
I love that Riddle Bun, like Wooden Boy, is part of the Tom and Simon canon.

I would love to see more games like this in the future. If they could find more cutesy puzzle/room escape games they should play them. If not, they could try out some of the older ones like the Crimson Room series, or Mystery or Time and Space, both were free browser games from long ago. Although I wonder if those even work anymore, still if they can be found and made to work they are very worth it.

So I left the room to get a snack just before they were about to finish the "first" puzzle of the first game, and came back to them giving a glass of water to a bunny. I thought that the bunny game was the "real" test of the previous demo, as the narrator said there were going to be two tests. The landscape is a longstride closer to hell, that's for sure.

Haven't finished the video yet, stopped at the equation to do some math about the code, because I figured it could be relatively easy to solve. I might come back here when I finish the video to see if I'm right. Now if we let the circle be 9, the diamond be 4, the triangle be X and the square be Y, then the code is: X49Y, correct? Then we have the equation, which tells us 9-4+X=Y or in other words, Y=X+5. If we assume that the combination to the lock is only four digits long, as is generally considered standard, that gives us four possible combinations for the lock; 1496, 2497, 3498, 4499; *however*, we know thanks to Tom and Simon dicking about, that the largest combination possible on the keypad is eleven digits long. Without access to the keypad myself, I can then assume that it X and Y can be any two numbers such that Y is always five greater than X, and the total number of digits between the two numbers never exceeds nine. In essence, X can be any number between 1 and 9999, and Y can be any number between 6 and 10004. With this in mind, we can do some math to determine whether or not this is worth brute forcing, or if indeed the code is required. So if we sort the possible combinations by number of digits, we find out that there are 4 possible combinations for a 4 digit code, 5 possible combinations for a 5 digit code, 85 possible combinations for a 6 digit code, 5 possible combinations for a 7 digit code, 895 possible combinations for an 8 digit code, 5 possible combinations for a 9 digit code, 8995 possible combinations for a 10 digit code, and 5 possible combinations for an 11 digit code. Discounting a 6 digit code, an 8 digit code, and a 10 digit code, we're left with a total of 24 possible combinations we can enter before bothering to look around for clues as to what X might actually be. Now, mathematically speaking, if X is a random number generated between 1 and 9999, the chances of the code being any of these 24 combinations is quite unlikely, as there are, all told, 9999 possible combinations for this keypad, giving you a .24% chance of it actually being one of these combinations, with the chances of each one being .01%, which is extremely low. There is an 89.96% chance of the code being ten digits long with a randomly generated number. But, and this is the important part here, this is an escape the room game. You're going to confuse the shit out of your players if your X is four digits long, you only made the code input panel the way you did because you think it would be cool. This rules out 90% of the possible codes, leaving us with 999 remaining codes that it could possibly be. Again though, you're lazy and this is just a warmup. Yeah, the codes are around the room, but the fact of the matter is, you didn't use a number generator, you came up with a number yourself. My guess is that either the code is four digits long, five digits long, less than fifty, less than 100, or a 3 digit number relating to the theme, like 333 or 666. EDIT: they immediately find the number 2. 2497. LAZY PROGRAMMERS CAN'T EVEN RNG.
