We get on with the Ingenium engine recondition and manage to get it linered. Also, we get a very rare and expensive engine that if your a Cosworth fan you will be excited to see

YBD 0094 was originally fitted to white RS500 build no 439. That is not the original block but a later bare block replacement which has been re stamped ( the bare blocks had no YBD number stamped on them), the replacement blocks had the extra web on the alternator mounting points, the same as the 200 blocks, which was not present on the engines installed at Tickford in the summer of 87. Also the original blocks had yellow painted over where the YBD stamping is and the last digits of the VIN on the side of the block, where as that one is blank) Hope that helps. Those ebay prices are optimistic!

Lee will show us his secret bookcase door where theres a lift down 3 floors, a couple of guards with Uzi's, then a laser beam protected safe where the parts are stored. Oh and the lift is protected by retinal scanners.

This is the car that ignited my passion for modified cars in the 90's. My neighbors son had a black RS500 and used to drive me around in it. He only recently sold it, very low mileage. He treated me like his own. What a special car and a special bloke.

Now you have a chance to film rs500 and 200 blocks and show the cylinder thickness side by side from that water pump hole

That pulley combo appears to be near one to one. I don't know about your 4 cylinder stuff, but most V-8 dry sump setups are about 50%. I run 52% on my 600 inch chev with a 5 stage Barnes pump.
@jefferybond57015 ай бұрын
Yes, but the aux shaft that drives it is running slower than the crank, probably 50% since it would drive the distributor.

Have you guys considered hiring a part time bloke to do the parts cleaning, workshop cleaning and painting around the workshop? Perhaps a retired bloke, or a student who is studying to become a mechanic. This would free you up to do more chargeable hours.

Did the 500,s have the need to change the engine number on the V5 . Originally it would of had a normal 205 removed for the swap .
@PS-ps8mo5 ай бұрын
The actual V5 listed engine number is on the side of the block and is the same as the end of the VIN of the car, the YBD number is the internal cosworth number. The 205 engines would have stayed blank and not had the 500 chassis number stamped on them at Genk, and were later sent back there and re used in new 2wd Saffs

What about that 2.4 litre 4 cylinder engine that went into some american FORD sedans in the 80's . Are they any good to use the block from .?

I doubt anything sold in the USA was worth a piss....we never got any of 'the good stuff'

Re the Ingenium engine crank bearing failure, how an 'engineer', can design in a point of failure in the name of economy such as an 'electronically controlled oil pump' is beyond belief. It's an astonishing ball drop but that JLR/Ford for you. Audi have an identical crap idea, there are some independent garages who change the map on the ECU and raise the oil pressure setting to avoid oil starvation to the valve gear and rod bearings before the engine self destructs when hot using the water thin synthetic oil.

So it’s a heavy pinto engine.

You need to remove the part of the video where you show the guys address on the parts in the drawer. He ain't gonna be impressed when some one robs his car when he gets the engine back in
