I had an 81. It got 40 mpg. The driveline lasts forever but they used crap steel in the bodies and frames and could not take any road salt. You could watch them dissolve before your eyes. The SD22 engine is an industrial engine and has dry cylinder liners. They were used in Nissan forklifts, generator sets, etc.

thats pretty awesome! luckily we don't have the road salt issues here otherwise this truck probably would be a goner! We still haven't torn into it to see why it only runs on 3 cylinders. its been on the backburner for us sadly, we wanna use it as a parts hauler we don't have to worry about people getting gross and hurting

Wish these little trucks are still being built today.

My grandpa had one sitting for about 10 years that he got for free from someone that also had it sitting for a good number of years, the engine was so seized that he had to pull it with a ditch witch in order to get it to turn over. After a few days of messing with it we realized it was a lost cause. Kinda bummed as the body on those look pretty cool.

ive got a duel cab 4wd sitting out the back. it runs fine, but it has some pretty bad rust in the chassis and i have nowhere to pull it apart and rebuild it so unfortunately at this point in time i wouldnt be able to get it roadworthied where i live in australia
@D2KMotors2 жыл бұрын
That sucks! A dual cab would be rad, I've never seen one here in americaaa

@@D2KMotors i brought mine second hand in australia so im assuming it was a direct japanese import with no steering conversion or anything else required to be driven here, im not a %100 but i think it might even have an sd25 engine ? was the last of the datsuns before they got rebranded as nissans
@D2KMotors2 жыл бұрын
sounds rad. id definitely try and find a place you can store it and fix it up. Would be a fun project!

My father-in-law had one of those the fuel mileage that he got was unbelievable he could put $5 worth of diesel in that and go all week.

Neat little truck. Time for a new clutch master cylinder?
@D2KMotors2 жыл бұрын
the clutch disc was actually froze to the flywheel, we made a 2nd video on it. She got a new clutch and works great! just need to get it running a little better, it has a good miss to it

I'm all for fixing stuff, but this will be a lot of work.
@D2KMotors2 жыл бұрын
yea were gonna get the engine running better and just use it as is. Not worth restoring or anything crazy like that lol
@sounds1642 Жыл бұрын
is it sd22 drive??
@RunninGunner042 жыл бұрын
How much fuel economy would you loose putting a turbo on this?
@D2KMotors2 жыл бұрын
i wouldn't imagine a whole lot. That's actually not a bad idea. We may have to keep that in mind and see what happens!
@gjmob Жыл бұрын
They don't like Turbocharging as the sd22 dates back to 1963 and they had only 3 main bearings on the crank.
@jaysguyrage94833 жыл бұрын
I saw it either fire or some leaves coming out of that exhaust. Or both. Lol I will send the picture of it to you in a message
@D2KMotors3 жыл бұрын
probably a good mix of both, you know those datsun diesels lol
