Wow, that looks like you’re about to have an amazing time. Not sure of your plans but you’ll be passing by Catalina during a nice (non-busy) time of year. Worth a stop. Maybe you could do a meet up in catalina for local sailor folk to say hi. Plenty of room in Cat Harbor to anchor for free.

It's easy to run the halyards back to the cockpit before u leave. It's actually easier to sail a bigger boat than a smaller boat. I like when u said the line was fat and old and your crew member looked up at u as though u were talking about him

Great boat, Bob, congratulations on your success in scoring it. Better than any boat I've ever sailed. I don't like a few things, but they are nitpicks. No solar sucks, having to run the engine every day - even when anchored - would for me be a major annoyance. I don't like that it had mold, that makes me a bit leery about why it was leaking. I would not leave the dock without lifelines. The dual helm is there because the sight lines are bad from the cockpit? That also would annoy me. I know, I'm easily annoyed, it's a fine boat. Would be interested in knowing the keel depth and how stable it is in a good breeze, I'm sure we'll find that out in a future episode. Happy sailing!

I used to live just south of Comox in Nanaimo Harbour on Protection Island. My friend has a take-out fish and chip place by the harbour (Trollers). Happy to see all that. Fair winds. Cheers

I might be wrong but I believe that the YT channel called SAILING ZATARA is this same make, model and LOA vessel. If so, some of their vids might prove valuable as Zatara has been logging weekly and is currently in the Pacific. Capt Keith has had to do a lot of hands on repair work while cruising with his family for the past 6-12 months. Fair Winds !!

There is a shit load of those logs (dead heads) floating just below the surface, around the Straights and the Puget Sound. I am a long time power boater in these parts and I can't tell you how many times I've felt and heard them bouncing along the bottom of my boat. Never any damage but still kind of eerie whenever it happens.

Black Fin pub.Fanny Bay & Kushies. Love the beach at Kingfisher. Eagles, porpoise, otters and whales. You are from a beautiful place, when the sun is shining. Salmon fishing not bad, prefer Langara region.

Up here in our neighborhood. It can be dangerous up here some times with logs and deadheads. Full enclosures are so great for this area. Will be awesome too when you are in the rain. Beautiful boat!

Yes there are stray logs in Georgia Strait. I would put the life raft on the rear so it falls into the water in an emergency, and you don't have to lug it anywhere.

What a beautiful vessel, Must be a real treat compared to your much smaller C&C. Looks like a lot of fun once you get settled into a rhythm and a little more familiar with her. Thanks for bringing us the videos so quickly from the time they were filmed. Did you have a chance to pick up your Honda Eu2000i generator yet? You will like the Honda much more than the Ryobi's that you had before in the cat. Not that there is anything wrong with Ryobi but Honda is the one that all generators aspire to be as you can tell in most of the advertised comparisons. We are all looking forward to your NEW adventure almost as much as you. Watch out for the Deadheads! Partially sunken logs are the worst and hardest to spot especially at night. Get a good spot light or 2. Nice to see you movin' on now as signalized by your new thumbnail. Fair Winds!

Bob: I have watched your vids since day one, so please heed these words: DO NOT take that boat down the coast during these months. I have a Marine Trader 51, full keel, a TOTAL tank at 55K lbs.; & I would not run her down. I am a life long sailor, sailed to Hawaii twice & back, sailed to SF, & I am from the Pacific Northwest. Nobody I know would do such a thing. It is not called the Pacific Graveyard for nothing. You will get the living shit kicked out of you and that Tupperware boat. Foolish indeed! The North Pacific is infamous: names like "Destruction Island", "Potato Patch", Cape Mendicino, et al, strike fear in ANY sailors hearts; even when they are on a 600' Matson ship runnin' Seattle, Oakland, Honolulu, Seattle. Glad you got a new life raft. Plus, it's going to be cold. Cold like you have never experienced; wet & damp to the bone. Traffic everywhere, barges, crab pots, ships. I've done it, I know! PLEASE read the story of Gypsy Soul, a Farrington/Vagabond 52, a TOTAL BEAST of a Bluewater boat, abandoned off CA; in Sept! That was freaking Sept! I will agree that it is cold right now. Will be watching this closely. My home harbor is Humboldt Bay. Its tricky to get into, and can have big waves. It also has sand bars at low tides on the southern side. I once went out to video a tanker which had gotten stuck on a sand bar for a TV station. The current is fast as tides change. I would suspect that a person would go in as the tide is changing from low to high filling up the bay. Let me know if you are planning on going there. Wow, Nice boat ! A blue water boat like that one can handle just about anything and will be comfy providing it doesn't have fuel problems. Actually, after watching the sails being checked, I 'm a liitle worried about them. So, I just wouldn't use them over a 40 knot gust. Would have loved to have a photo and a little more talk about the wiring. Got plenty of extra fuses right ? New batteries ? Sailing close to the coast, your navigation needs are tight. At the time of this video you had about enough for 10 techs full day and no shakedown ? Whats the rush ? Mike

As you make your way into Southern Cal, be sure to make a stop at Two Harbors, Catalina Island. Drop in there on a weekend and go up to the Harbor Reef Saloon and get yourself a "Buffalo Milk" and a "Catalina Punch". Both great cocktails. Ya can't go wrong!!!

Man ooohhhh man...I looked at a Bene 321 today and was a little disappointed in the stanchions and stanchion bases...totally different design than any sailboat i've been on...wiggly and flimsy! The base looks like its aluminum! The pulpit and the stern rail were definitely thinner gauge stainless than standard that moved around just as Comax Marine demonstrated...lots of flex and movement...I've never experienced that! They are pretty though :) WEATHER WINDOWS!

Those river logs do come loose from the raft when they become water logged and then become dead heads that destroy pleasure boats.

I had to leave my dogs for 10 days for a sailing adventure in the BVI. I was just about going nuts by the end of the trip. Couldn't wait to get them back. Sorry to hear about your flying career. I quit the airlines on my own decision. Still have my 1st class medical. Now I just fly for fun and hobby time as an instructor. Beats living out of a suitcase. It was a good job, but being gone all the time took its toll. Good job on the videos!
