I’ve had the SCY for awhile got 60A ESC 5900kv motor, hbx shocks and wheels, upgrade servo running dumbo rc transmitter, new metal upgraded cups. It dose 70mph and handles like a dream. By far the best 1/16 on road. Only ever ran mine 3s nothings broken, even with sand paddle on the beach!

You made the right choice. The MJX is hard to control, has big throttle delay, and the Philips hardware makes working on it a pain. I returned my MJX and got the Granite. Arrma has so much better parts availability than the other brands too. MJX flipped over every turn almost, even with hex extenders.

I thought for sure you were kidding about jumping the tree, that is just completely nuts how well this thing did. It's got to have something to do with the fact that these smaller scale just don't have the weight and mass behind them when falling, even an expensive 1/10 or 1/8 scale would have snapped or bent something for sure. This car was on sale on Ali on black friday but I haven't driven it yet. A little over 72 USD for the brushless pro version - same as in the video. The body shell has a slightly different slogan on it saying "Drive" not "Beast" but other than that it's the same. My model is the yellow SCY 16103 P(ro). Good deal for the price but I am going to upgrade the shocks straight away. I heard the MJX Hyper Go 16 series shocks fit it. Any recommendation for the weight / cst oil I should put in them? The aluminium shocks I've ordered arrived empty. :-/

Nice! Yup same model very good deal! Those are the same shocks I used, video soon, but I’m upset they don’t come with oil. I borrowed mine off of my HyperGo so were filled already. I’d say 30-50wt. Maybe higher if you want to do a lot of bigger jumps. I’ve used 80wt in my small HBXs and like it.

I would maybe order a body (they have a few different choices but not that same “beast” color scheme), a spare differential and differential input gear, body mount posts. That’s the only issues I’ve had after all this time so far but other possible and common breaks on any RC would be axles, knuckles/hubs, and control arms. Spare wheel hexes, pins, and wheels. Over-buying gets expensive lol Now that I think of it these wheels might be the same. Double check the measurements and tread pattern. amzn.to/3QB1mRU That other website is usually 2-3 weeks so extra parts are not a bad thing lol Shipping cost is very reasonable.

Try the speed test with a full charge with the battery it came with. I got 43.3 but I wasn’t full, maybe 80 percent or so! Awesome video man now I know I can get rowdy with it!

The stocks are actually pretty decent for the size of the car. I am working on an upgrade video trying out some better tires but the difference isn’t as great a si thought it would be.

Same here, I tried a couple different sets but have not been very happy with the performance with heavier or larger tires. The stocks have no foam so I figured that it would make a big difference but it seems to hinder performance a bit while the stock ones maintain a bit more stability and prevent flip overs better as they allow for more drift… thought maybe you had found a better set up. Seems like it’s pretty great out of box and maybe just an ESC upgrade if doing lots of 3s. I’m going to put the stocks back on them , thanks for your responses and as always, great content. Probably one of the best KZbinrs out there

Well that’s a tough question lol. My 16889a pro has given me very little trouble over almost 2 years, but it’s crashes are less severe being that it can’t go anywhere near as fast as this one. This SCY platform proved itself to me in one video lol I have a feeling the hbx would have had a few bent axles or maybe have had a rear one pop out and get lost in the neighbors yard if it could make it over that tree and not land on its wheels 7 times like this one did lol Both very durable either way so I would judge your decision on aesthetics and performance.

Not necessarily any 1/16. It would kind of be trial and error. I ordered a proline 1/16 body for a 1/14 project and it was still too big, but if you stay with a body from a “China” brand, Theres a good chance you could make it work just may need to drill new holes in the body for the posts.

The angry snail battery comes with a charger it looks like. It’s definitely better to have a higher grade charger like this one: amzn.to/3xBXCZX But not completely necessary, just follow the safety precautions for lipo batteries. I haven’t even test that fan I showed in the video. There should be plenty available on Amazon on Banggood, but need to verify the diameter of that motor. If I remember right it’s 28mm

Yes that’s correct. A curved 45° ramp. Same one I built in my ramp build video in one of my first few videos. Then yes I think I put a 4x4 under it. Can’t remember lol

I bought the sarkspark version of this car on Amazon and it didn't even make it through the 1st 3s battery pack with out getting completely destroyed. Not only are the shocks horrible but the body mounts & shock towers are hard fragile plastic that completely shattered on the 1st upside down landing.

Does it seem different than this car? Was it cold outside? Colder weather will absolutely cause plastic to shatter much easier. After all the things you’ve seen in this video and still running it several times since, I’ve had yet to break any of the plastic parts.

@@DerbyCityRC It was around 60f outside. It might just be that the Sharkspark version has weaker plastic. It was going max speed and launched about 10ft high and 45ft long on that upside down crash so there's that too.😂
