If you wanna be niche- making a simple syrup that is shelf stable for months is surprisingly simple Any concentration of sugar to water equal to or greater than 2:1 is too hypertonic for microbes too grow. (Normal simple is 1:1 but spoils in a week or so). For example, add 100mL boiling water to a vessel with 200mg sugar and stir till dissolved

I think you got your units a bit screwy there - 200mg of sugar is like a quarter teaspoon! 1L = 1kg, so it's 200 regular grams of sugar to 100ml in this example.
