For an unforgettable (and inexpensive) world-class music festival experience, you should try volunteering at Byron Bay Bluesfest. I did it with my friends for a long weekend trip from Brisbane, and had a great time! 👇 I've put together some details on how to do it below.
The Bluesfest music festival is one of the top music festivals in the world, showcasing the best in international rock, blues, soul, R&B, folk music hip hop music from around the world annually on the Easter long weekend on 120 hectares at Tyagarah Tea Free Farm, just north of Byron Bay, NSW.

There are two music festival volunteer work options: during festival and pre or post festival.
During the festival you will be expected for a 5-hour on each day of the 5-day festival (Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon), and you must be available to volunteer on all 5 days. For pre or post festival volunteering, 25 hours of work will be required in exchange for the free ticket.
To register, sign up for the announcements on the Bluesfest website, and then apply by entering your details and skills. If you are accepted, you will need to await further instruction in the weeks leading up to the festival, where you will receive another email prompting you to select your roster preference as well as shift times. If you’re going with friends, it’s a great idea to organise a time when you can all log in together and select the same shift if you want to volunteer with friends.

CAMPING IN BYRON BAY FOR BLUESFEST
Blues festival camping is not included in the volunteering ticket (which is only for the festival entry itself over the 5 days). It is highly advisable to camp on the festival grounds if possible, as accommodation in Byron Bay is expensive during this time, and you would need to arrange transport to and from the festival which is an annoyance if you’re there to work and experience the festival.
Once accepted as a volunteer at Byron Bluesfest, keep your eyes on your email inbox as volunteers will be offered limited discounted camping tickets on a first in first served basis. If you can purchase it in time, you will have secured yourself cheap Bluesfest accommodation conveniently within walking distance to the festival entry.
