why not just walk away and leave? it's not like they can or will physically assault or touch you, and it's not like they can report you to the authorities lol. why encourage them and reeinforce this scam by actually giving in and paying them?

Its easy for you to say because you're a man. For a small woman like me and my friend...it was not so easy to just walk away from 6 men who were guarding us like crazy. If you will try to walk away, 1 or 2 of them will follow. If its just one person than that would be easy... But we know better now...

Hello, I also encountered this, and was also asked for a minimum €5. Surprisingly the scammer did not accept my coins (only had €1 or €2). (I did not have notes in small dominations). Maybe it was crowded then so perhaps better opportunities await.

I was trying to argue at first because I've already paid but my friend gave him 5 euros so he will stop and we can go forward to our next destination.
