Totally impractical but immensely fun, a spiral slide. Of course a lift for your less adventuresome or physically capable visitors. I know, you have to think of liability issues.....darn it! Looking forward to your next video! Terry from South Carolina

The access portal will be out secondary entrance, with the main entrance being the large 10' diameter opening from the blast lock. That one allows for easier offloading/loading since we can just drive down to it.

The scissors lift elevator sounds like a good idea. Build a 2 car garage over the top of the shaft and hide what’s underneath. Makes security a bit easier as well.

Thanks for the kind words my friends! Lessons learned from my site... When you build a roof over the entrance portal, make it water tight and sloped for drainage! (mine was built flat and it leaks, lol!) And you guys seem to have real skill at finding old equipment - so use your excavator to lower in an old used scissor lift like mine. Stairs can come later... It will also be a chore to build forms and rebar and pour new concrete on top of the old to bring it up flat to ground level. The scissor lift will really help with that too, it can roll around inside to help you work on the walls. (PS - that's why the elevator motor compartment was concreted in at my place - so the lift can roll around easily.)
@GTsTitanRanch4 жыл бұрын
Hey Doug. 😊 Stairs with a crane (Gantry, jib etc.) is a lot more functional in my opinion. I was ready to buy a scissor lift but they still are so far from the bottom it doesn’t help as much with getting things in and out. A gantry is about $3k with hoist and stairs... well to build is expensive but I have an extra set that I’d likely sell. And since they have an excavator you can build a lift basket to get material in and out before spending the $$ on the gantry. You guys know I’m not the most safety conscious kind of guy but a scissor lift as the only way to get in... well if it shuts down half way down the shaft with visitors... that’s less than optimal. 😊

Great recommendations! Its always fun to brainstorm ideas of what to do! :) Hope ya have a happy New Year my friend!

@@GTsTitanRanch Hi GT! Good to hear from you. These guys can back a truck right up to the tunnel entrance, so they will never need to lift anything. The scissor lift suggestion was to save walking all the way down to the tunnel entrance and be a fun way to go in and out. Also... very handy to work on the new roof. Stairs would of course be the smartest and safest, but they can already walk down the slopes to the other entrance. I agree with you however, on any other site out there your suggestion makes the most sense.

Good progress on your site. Please whatever you do, make it child proof, it looks like you have lots of little ones around. When we bought our Sprint missile site in North Dakota, we still had 8 kids at home so it has always been a big priority to keep it safe. No open drop-offs, no open holes and no little kids opening or closing the blast doors. I am sure you have thought of this stuff, but some things you cant undo. Good Luck with your project.

I would build a castle style wall around edge with small view points for sniper and binoculars. Then inside of that, build you a nice elevated platform for patio and grill, frig, etc with retractable metal roof splitting in half to have view of sky. Below that you could put stairs down to a pool with a glass bottom so you can look up and see the pool from below! Lol. Man I hope I don’t win the lotto... 🤣
