Going through comments, but want to answer a few repeated questions I'm seeing. 1) Yes, we tested positive for the rona. We didn't self-diagnose. 2) We lost sense of smell. Could still (kind of) taste. The sense of smell was more like a constant scent of sick. Idk how else to describe it. That's what tipped us off. 3) We're not sure where we got it. Our social life has taken a backseat this last year. We go to the gym at night and with masks. We go to Target, drive-thrus, and I take Winnie to chemo weekly. I work from home now. Alastair goes to work. That's as much as we do on a regularly basis, so it would've been from any of those instances. 4) It got rough, but I didn't film those parts. 5) We are feeling fine, but still monitoring. 6) We weren't offended by the "roommate" thing, but found it funny. Very much appreciate all the concerns. Y'all are grrrreat!

How long did the "worst" of it last? Yes the roommate thing. HA HA. We had a neighbor that one day asked me how my brother was doing. I was shocked because at that time I had not talked to any of my family for so long (a long story). So, I was like, um I guess he's fine. It dawned on me later that he thought My husband was my brother. So funny. I don't think my neighbor can handle a gay couple living next to him and another across the street from him. There's a church reason for saying that. But when you said, "roommates" - I couldn't help but laugh about my "brother - aka my husband"

"concealing all the hard work" - well... agree it takes a lot of hard work in a relationship, and sure youtube videos are always a bit polished, but i must say that i like to watch this channel specifically because they do try to keep it real at some level, and they share with us some struggles in relationships. i'm sure (and i hope) that they keep some stuff to themselves as is their right, but after watching several videos you get the sense of just how balanced they are when compared to gay representations in media or even the usual youtuber. i am really thankful for this because it is the kind of representation i can't see anywhere else, and it has taught me so much about my own relationship with my partner :)

@@VentraleStar I think we are on the same page. It doesn't have to, and I think you'll find that I made that point too. It's not about showing everything, it's about choosing between making it look perfect or giving you a more nuanced view. Everyone likes gay representations with happy endings, but I feel I get more than that here. E.g. the discussions of navigating/negotiating masculinity and other topics are all tough discussions most gay couples have faced. You find these little examples of hard work and tough subjects everywhere in the channel. It's not just about the romance, at least as a viewer, for me it's not. I've watched AZB before Alistair, and I gotta hand it to Zach, only he could pull off not making his channel all about that while still sharing so much about it, precisely by reminding me that they are just humans living their damn lives. I dont need to be a voyeur, and I don't care about the percentage. I just care that whatever little we see, we are reminded that they are persons.

Many of my friends from the States are long haulers who recovered from the virus last July and are now still struggling to perform tasks once instinctive to them. A good number of them are academic researchers and lecturers once able to handle massive amount of academic papers and research materials daily, now find themselves barely able to summon enough focus to grade term papers.

When you talked about this role play idea, I was immediately reminded of a Boy Meets World episode (I think S1) where Eric and Cory catch their mom lying about going bowling and discover her dressing up and going to a bar.
