The Charentais melon is the best I’ve ever tasted, but when I tried to grow them a few years ago, every one of them split before I could get them harvested. It didn’t stop us from eating them. LOL…we cut around the bad part and loved what was left, though it was very discouraging. I didn’t try again after that, but I just figured it was the unavoidable Texas heat. Even the cat loved the Charentais… I have a short video of him eating some. You made me want to try again! Thank you for another inspiring video. Accept your blessings! Love from central Texas.

I've grown savor the last few years in Texas. They do not like it super hot (well, they like the hot part of summer in France! But not Texas. Haha). I plant them in an area of my garden where they get a little bit of shade towards those blistering hot afternoon/evening hours.

Which what he was missing all these years. We don’t have a lot of space, but used what we had to grow twice as much this year. Bless God forever! I’m so thankful for His two servants Hollis and Nancy! And for the bounty He sends. Can you save those melon seeds and they come true next year? I always try to save seed if possible. Try some black pepper on your cantaloupes…any variety. I had an old man share that with me way over 40 years ago and I’ve never looked back. At first I thought it sounded awful and the old guy said, don’t knock until you try it boy!! I’m now past 65 and still learning. There’s nothing like letting the love of God grow in your heart and watching the fruit of garden grow. Thanks Hollis and Nancy. And thank you Jesus, most of all!

Great video, you know your the only channel I can set my phone down and just listen to you because the music is so good. The melons I grow from Johnnys Seeds are Savor, Brilliant, and Lambkin. I lie not it’s the trifecta of melon growing. You should really try it. All are medium size varieties that will blow you away. After the harvest season I won’t eat anymore melons because with store bought melons you are set up for disappointment.

We've always had great results with seeds purchased from Johnny's Seed with one exception. Their selections of seed, across the board is leaning more and more to F1 (hybrid) seed varieties. So, no seed saving will work. I don't mean to sound negative. I'm just a firm believer in analyzing all pro's/cons regarding any endeavor. Question, Do you think these would grow well in 10gal buckets? Would like to try these but am about out of room. As Always, TYFS

Love how you do the videos from start to finish to see the end product in one continuous video! I dunno about that melon....it seemed to me to be "too crunchy" for my taste in cantaloupes. Would another day or two on the vine help with that, do you think? I think I'm going to trellis some of mine this year. I've always wanted to but just never have. You made a believer out of me on that part.

I live just a bit south of y'all and have a small garden in the back yard and only grow things I watch on your channel (minus the artichokes I planted) because I know it's good information. Hoping to go crappie fishing here soon.

I pray in Jesus name that God will plant his hedge of protection around your entire homestead :) (he probably already had done so before I prayed this!!) You guys are such a blessing and I definitely appreciate all of your hard work...so until next time :)

Wow. Sounds like that variety is worth a try! Thanks for covering the whole process from planting to harvest! Also I'm wondering, why is there so much white stuff in the soil when you dig into the soil beginning around 13:16? [Then at 15:55 you add even more white stuff to the soil with the Blood and Bone meal.] Shouldn't the soil that you add amendments to be dark brown? I know amendments like Bone meal is white. I'm just wondering about the color of the soil....

Do you think it should be crunchy? Looks like a cantaloupe. Which would you rather have? Do you have a video on Sugar babie Water mellons? If not would I follow the same example for them as you did this? What are the big beautiful Red long peppers in the beginning of the video. I'm not having much luck with Red Bell Peppers but I love the flavor of Sweet Red Peppers.

It was only slightly crunchy but when they ripened a few more days in the house they were no longer crunchy and even more sweet. It’s a good cantaloupe ❤️

Cantaloupes are great. Put them on a window sill to completely ripen. Also known as muskmelons because they're ready when you can smell them upon walking into the room.
