It's the summer of 2024. Update? How many LGmouth bass do you estimate were in the 30-acre stream fed pond in 2020? In 2021? Stocked with prey fish in 2018 (5000 bluegill, 2500 sunfish & grass carp). A year later, 1500 hybrid largemouth were added. In 2020, U-surveyed the pond. Most bass were 1-2 lbs. Some were 4lbs. Pond fed by creek & stays full. I'm interested in size distribution and total population stat's/estimates 2020 - 2024. Got any updates on that for me? I would like to explore the commerce potential for private fishery sport fishing, associated costs, etc 2C if I might break even (or more likely what my losses might be) if I start allowing anglers in the 5th year. Will U-help me with the costs of Vegetation Management, Population Sampling, Fish Stocking & Fertilization (basically all your svc's). I live in LA - right on the FL-AL line (Flomaton, AL). I notice you have no fish count data on your video of this pond (kzbin.info/www/bejne/enbbdaKZqZuYjNE) in any year 2020 - 2024. Will U add that info 2 the comments? And I seen you throw the crappie back was it an unwanted species but not one the owner wanted removed? I just find it extremely interesting what really goes into pond management

Not sure how they got into the pond. As far as the crappie go, they will definitely slow the growth of the bass in a pond because they compete for the same resources. However, some pond owners want to keep them because they're good to eat. We will remove the crappie if the owner asks for it. We do make sure they know the effect they have on the bass population, but it's ultimately their decision.

Question for you, I’m in Florida and built a pond a little over 1/2 acre that’s 12 foot deep. The pond is about 7 months or so old and it’s starting to settle in a the water is getting clearer. I’m not wanting to stock fish. Anything wrong with stocking bluegill, minnows and other forage without adding bass right away? I was thinking letting the bluegill do their thing for 6-8 months and then adding bass. Thank you for any feedback

We always recommend stocking forage species months prior to stocking predators like bass. Ideally, you'd want to stock bluegill now so they can spawn several times throughout the warmer months. Then stock bass in the fall.
