Today we take a look at What More UK, Altham Business Park, Shorten Brook Way, Altham, Accrington BB5 5YJ.
This is another site which is located at the end of a road so they tend to have less members of the public walking around but this does not mean that standards can slip.
We find, plastic pellets left discarded in many places, trip hazards, forklift use without proper registration and staff who do not take the issues seriously.
They even call the Police with a false report that I am an Activist from Greenpeace.
Enjoy!

I need to say this is why I have time for your videos. I was gobsmacked at the amount plastic pellets littered around. To see the pellets in the drain was the last straw. I intend to make a complaint to this shoddy business regarding this serious matter. As you quite rightly say wildlife will probably eat those pellets. It’s absolutely disgusting. And there’s no excuse for it. And the two men that lied regarding the pellets being cleaned up daily is also absolutely disgraceful. The whole place stinks of shoddy careless practices. Outstanding work mr Audits. The officer could have shown more appreciation and understanding to what you told him and showed him. But he was fairly reasonable. I really hope the council, environmental health and united utilities all take action regarding this absolute criminal behaviour by this shoddy business.

When you said to the cop that you've only spoken to the works manager, that's a good point. I've worked for two companies where I have spoken to a director or senior manager about issues that junior management and supervisors are ignoring or causing and they have said they are completely unaware of it and invited me to go to them direct with any further issues, so it is often kept from them. Not that that's an excuse. They should all be aware of what's going on.

The directors should walk around the site once or twice a month as part of HSEQ audit, at random unannounced times. They may well think of ways to improve the business whilst having a stroll around. If they just get out of their car and walk into their office without looking left or right they are not doing their job. Not looking and then saying "I'm shocked, I tell you shocked that x is happening" belongs in in the days of old.

The forklift: there’s an issue that’s all too frequently ignored. (Them and golf carts). Constantly used by businesses yet not licensed to be on the roadways. It’s an issue to me because; I’ve had an idiot on a forklift back up into my truck. Caved in a large section of the box. The operator called his boss, who came out and offered to cover the damages, just get a quote and bring it back to him. When I tried to bring him the quote 3 days later, he was ‘busy’. The next week he was ‘away for the week’. After a month and a half, when I finally caught him in the parking lot, he says that it’s between me and the guy that was operating the forklift. And BTW he no longer works here. Then wouldn’t give me the operators name. It took over 7 months but I did get my truck repaired at their expense. (But I also had to drive around with a smashed truck for 7mos because I didn’t want to have it repaired, then have them deny the extent of the damage.

Post from the company, blaming consumers, housekeeping, claiming they reprocess plastic at their cost as opposed for THEIR PROFIT - this response from the company demonstrates they still don’t take this seriously “What More UK are aware of a KZbin post made yesterday. We are a company that takes our responsibilities seriously. We are committed to helping resolve the problems of plastic waste, and as such have reprocessed many thousands of tons of everyday items that people throw away without concern daily, yoghurt pots, pot noodle tubs, bottle tops, butter packaging, shampoo bottles and the like. All at our additional cost. We do not make single-use products; all our products are fully recyclable. We note the issues raised, issues that are down to housekeeping and we will act as necessary in resolution of issues raised. For the record the pathways referred to are not public. No further comments will be made.”

Well done protecting the public from illegal motor vehicle behaviour. If they don't comply with the law you should present your evidence with a formal complaint .

I hope they do actually have cleaning teams that clean the plastic pellets up from the grass, footpaths, and roads on a daily basis, I just wish somebody would go back on the following day after it has been shown the mess they are leaving there, to check to see if they are actually cleaned up. But I would have thought that the driver is responsible to clean these spills up, before they leave the unloading area, or at least a person there to make sure they are cleaned up asap. There is no way all those plastic pellets around the silo's and broken silo doors are from that single day, some of them are actually discoloured from being out in the rain etc.

If another KZbin Channel pops down soon then I will share the video on my community page so we can all see the difference, if any.

@@DJAUDITS Thank you DJ, I hope your video finds its way to the company directors, and they actually clean the site up, they make a good impression with all the signs, brushes, shovels etc to clean up the pellet spills, but it seems its just wording, no actual attempt is being done to do what they say they do.

A very good job, dude. Keep it up showing how some companies don't care about the area and wild life.

Excellent job sir. Scary that they have a river at the back, how much plastic pellets are ending up in that I wonder! This company needs seriously looking at asap. Having pellets washing down drainage, which probably ends up in the river is shocking. Let's keep on top of this company because they are polluting our future.

Excellent expose DJ. Those pellets clearly looked like they had been there for some time. After initially trying (without success) to fob you off, they suddenly seemed to realise that you know your onions. Hopefully they will address these issues, and the place will be cleaned up. I don't have much faith in the EA, but fingers crossed. The bobby seemed nice and helpful, so hopefully his colleagues can get some of the traffic matters sorted there. Great video.

What I love about these videos is when you talk with authority and the staff can't tell weather you actually are just a member of the public or some kind of secret CEO or something haahhaaha

When DJ asks the guy with the beard where their land is he answers "haven't got a clue" but at the start he was adamant that DJ was on their site. He's a bully.
